Larger intercoolers generally mean that you will have a larger surface area for cooling, which greatly increases the cooling efficiency of the turbocharger. If your factory intercooler becomes heat soaked, then you will definitely see a reduction in power. Larger top mount intercoolers or upgraded front mount intercoolers will reduce the intake air charge temperatures to keep that turbo happy.
