UNLOCK THE FULL POTENTIAL OF YOUR BRZ/FT86
The IAG 800 Short Block is expertly crafted for modified FA20 Subaru BRZs or FT86s, offering a reinforced platform to handle the amplified cylinder pressures produced by larger aftermarket turbochargers. Featuring our proprietary closed-deck cylinder support system, the IAG 800 short block strengthens the OEM FA20 cylinder walls to ensure enduring performance. Fitted with IAG Spec H-Beam forged connecting rods, this short block delivers exceptional strength and reliability. Additionally, to optimize head gasket sealing, an o-ring and 1/2" head studs are incorporated, enabling enhanced compression of the head gasket. These upgrades are ideal for enthusiasts looking to maximize the capabilities of their BRZs equipped with full bolt-on and turbo enhancements.
CRAFTED WITH ALL-NEW COMPONENTS
The foundation of the IAG 800 short block begins with pristine Subaru FA 2.0L engine case halves, meticulously prepared to optimize oil flow. These halves are then expertly assembled and machined together in our Haas VF-4SS CNC mill to seamlessly integrate the IAG Closed Deck Inserts, transforming the block into a solid, fortified structure. Notably, these inserts feature intricate passages ensuring essential coolant circulation across the deck surface. Subsequent CNC machining equips the case halves with O-ring receiver grooves around the bore surface and meticulously drills and taps them to accommodate 1/2" head studs, effectively reducing the risk of head gasket failures under high cylinder pressure scenarios. Following this, the short block undergoes Deck Plate boring and honing to 86.1mm, employing our in-house Sunnen SV-30 cylinder hone for precision. Our meticulous honing process ensures tighter piston-to-wall clearances, facilitating smoother engine operation. The assembly is completed using a new 2020 Subaru FA20 crankshaft expertly paired with ACL or King main bearings. IAG-Spec H-Beam rods with ARP2000 rod bolts are utilized, along with King or ACL rod bearings, while new OEM case bolts and sealant securely seal the case halves. Finally, IAG-Spec 86.1mm forged pistons are installed, complemented by an OEM oil plug to conclude the construction of the short block.
ENHANCED OIL CIRCULATION FOR IMPROVED PERFORMANCE
Effective oil flow is crucial for reliable performance. It's well-known that Subaru's OEM cases may not fully meet the demands of optimal lubrication. To overcome this challenge, our expert machinists meticulously inspect and upgrade the internal oil passages of each new OEM case used in the IAG 800 Short Block, ensuring consistent and reliable oil flow for enhanced performance.
FORGED PISTONS ENGINEERED FOR BOOST
In every IAG 800 Short Block, you'll discover IAG Spec JE FSR 86.1mm Forged Pistons, meticulously crafted from 2618 T6 Alloy for unparalleled strength. These pistons are purpose-built to endure the elevated cylinder pressures that accompany heightened boost levels. Utilizing FSR forgings, mass is reduced and friction-induced wear is minimized, all while preserving durability. This is achieved through an innovative asymmetrical skirt design, which not only significantly reduces weight compared to traditional full-round skirts but also ensures resilience. With smooth-flowing radii on the domes and dishes, these pistons facilitate optimal flame travel for enhanced combustion efficiency. Anchored to the rods with .905 x 2.250" x .210" wall carbon steel wrist pins featuring Tru Arc locks, these pistons are engineered to deliver consistent performance in demanding conditions. Notably, this block incorporates 10.5:1 Lower Compression pistons, tailored specifically for increased boost levels and larger turbochargers, making it the perfect choice for enthusiasts seeking heightened power output.
