This is the Morimoto D1S to D2S Ignitor Adapter which allows you to successfully adapt from your D1S setup to a more desirable D2S setup. More importantly since D1 bulbs have an integrated igniter and the D2 models do not, they will come with integrated Siemens igniters that are the same variant used in the XB D2S ballasts which produce over 23KV, which is enough to reliably turn on your D2 bulbs in any climate.
This adapter has been pinned especially for D1S ballasts and bulbs, and they are compatible with all OEM D1S ballasts and D2S HID bulbs. The input on the igniter is the same as the standard input on the side of the D1 bulb you are replacing.
