When the stock rack starting leaking PS fluid pretty bad on my 2012 STi it was time for an upgrade. I bought the 15+ STi rack and bought these to go with it. Hard to say how much of a difference these alone made, because upgrading to the new and improved rack made a huge difference. But installation was pretty easy and I am sure these made a decent improvement in steering feel. Everything whiteline is pretty great, so just buy it!
2013 WRX. Great kit. I like that it comes with a tool to get the OEM bushings out. Make sure to compare the passenger side bushing to the one you're taking out to match thickness. There are two options depending on the rack you have. I installed this kit at the same time as the Cusco brace, damper lockdown kit, and a 2015+ STi rack, so I'm not sure how much this piece contributes to the overall improved feedback compared to the rest of the pieces, but things are definitely stiffer and more direct. No additional NVH. If you're swapping racks, I'd definitely add this to the list of things to do while in there. Zero downsides.
Installed it on my '14 WRX Hatch. Install: Fairly simple install, make sure you mark the steering position so your alignment isn't all messed up when you disconnect the steering shaft to drop the rack. Also, grease the bushings inside and out to prevent squeaking later on and making the install easier. Took about 2 hours overall with a dinner break in between. Improvements: This won't affect steering 'response' as in how much your car turns per how much you turn the wheel. What this does improve is the steering sensitivity. Everything feels much more connected and the steering feels less 'mushy' if you will. You will feel more of the road through your wheel which is great for understanding cornering and the limits of your tires as you're taking a turn at speed. Overall, if you're looking into this you should just buy it.
The steering in my WRX was mushy and soft. In an effort to fix this, my first install has been this product. install is straightforward but requires a little bit of skill. Overall not a night and day difference but I am still happy with the noticeable improvement to the steering
I daily my 2017 STi and after about 13k miles I noticed a bit of back and forth slop in the steering wheel. I thought this was a performance car!? After installing these I no longer have that back and forth feel in the wheel and the whole front end feels that much more confident in corners. I have definitely received more than $74.33 worth of happiness from this product. Go for it!
