  • Q: Dump pipe  Nelson Asay4 months ago

Just curious. Do you HAVE to run a dump pipe with the wastegate or can it clamp off and run it through the exhaust? Thanks!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You would need to run a dump tube. But, you can have a local shop fabricate the dump tube to recirculate into your exhaust system.

  • Q: Tial MV-S connections  Rick D2 years ago

Hi, When connecting the air ports and the plugs do you need to use locktite or perhaps thread tape to avoid leaks? I am just not sure if those plugs tightened on their own will hold the air pressure? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Locktite is not required but can be used. For the most part I used plumber tape.

A:  Thanks. I was going to do that however figured plumbers tape was not designed for the heat the Watergates are subjected to.

  • Q: 16g turbo  awdboichris2 years ago

    If I'm running a 16g turbo/w e85 will this wastegate be fine?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  There are a bit more variables to look at when choosing a wastegate. Usually for high boost the smaller wastegate would be batter, for low boost a bigger wastegate would be better(like a 44mm).

    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  To clarify on Luis' answer, we recommend running the smaller wastegates with smaller turbos, a bigger wastegate with a small turbo such as a 16g would be counter productive. A bigger wastegate such as a 44mm would be better to run with our ATP turbo's or bigger Blouch turbos such as 2.5 XTR, 3076, etc...

  • Q: Spring sizes  N. D2 years ago

So what's the difference in spring sizes what do they do? I will be going flex fuel along with headers downpipe and catback, 14psi spring ok? What do these springs do?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Essentially the springs regulate what boost pressure you will run if no boost controller is implemented. The spring pressure is relative to what PSI you want to run. A 14 PSI spring is going to work well for you if you want to run more than 14 PSI with the utilization of a EBCS( Electronic Boost Control Solenoid) or a manual boost controller.

  • Q: Tial 38mm wastegate  Iker bermudez3 years ago

I have an invidia upipe and a stock turbo, my car is not boosting all the way stops pushing around 11lbs , could it be the wastegate not opening? And also will this fit with the indvidia up pipe?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  From what it sounds like is that your wastegate is only running wastegate pressure I would check all of the vacuum lines and boost lines.

  • Q:   kyronlankford43 years ago

Will this fit my 2004 wrx stock turbo if not what items will I need to make it fit?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You will need an uppipe with an external wastegate flange (like what Grimmspeed offers). You will also need a bracket to block off your stock internal wastegate. Keep in mind that you will also need a custom tune to run an external wastegate setup.

  • Q: 2006 LGT  Sheepdog3 years ago

Will this fit on a stock turbo for a 2006 LGT?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This will not fit on the OEM turbocharger. OEM Subaru turbos use an internal wastegate. To use this you will need an uppipe with an external wastegate flange and other accessories.

  • Q: Second tune?   travisallen9483 years ago

If I have a pro tune on 20 psi would I need another tune after adding an EWG
  • Q: Wastegate size  randice123061143 years ago

2013 wrx stock turbo. Would you run a 38 or a 44mm ewg for this application?
  • Q:   mvp16162626414 years ago

Will this fit the Grimmspeed 38/40mm external waste gate uppipe? Will I need a bracket? If so, which one?!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This will fit Grimmspeed's 38mm uppipe. Either an internal wastegate bracket or welding your internal wastegate's flapper door will be required. The bracket depends on the turbocharger but we recommend using a universal adjustable bracket.

  • Q: Pro tune?  Landerson365 years ago

If I was to get this and the grimmspeed up pipe and install it on my 2011 wrx with stock turbo and on a cobb stage 2 tune does it need a pro tune? And also what do I do with the stock actuator?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Yes, you will need a Pro Tune on your car to run the EWG. And you will also need GrimmSpeed's Internal Waste Gate Bracket. You can find that by searching part # GRM 010001

  • Q: Supporting mods  Josh A.5 years ago

Are there any other supporting mods that you recommend once I get this EWG and the Grimmspeed uppipe?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  If you do not plan on using just spring pressure to control boost, then it is recommended to upgrade your boost control solenoid. You will need a bracket to hold the stock wastegate shut and a custom tune.

  • Q: Fitment  Josh A.5 years ago

Will this work with the Invidia uppipe or would I need a different uppipe?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This wastegate is not compatible with the Invidia uppipe because the uppipe does not have an EWG flange. You will need an uppipe like the Grimmspeed 38mm EWG uppipe.

  • Q: Which Spring to use?  guest55c5274fcaae52f5098b59835 years ago

I have an 2003 Wrx with a VF39 i'm currently running 18.5psi but boost creeping on 4th & 5th gear so i'm switching to an ewg & uppipe combo from you guys. Which spring would you use?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The spring choice will depend on how much boost pressure you want to run and how you will be controlling the boost pressure. If you will not be using a boost controller, then use the spring combination for the amount of boost you want. If you will be using a boost controller, then use a spring combination that is set for less pressure than target boost, and raise the boost with the controller.

  • Q: Tune  rwestermark154196 years ago

Can I tun my 2012 STi with my acessport after installing this wastegate, or do I still need to have a custom tune done?
  • Q: VF39 Spring Strength  decodeddiesel192197 years ago

I am not sure which spring would be appropriate for a 2005 STi with a VF39. Could you please explain the springs a little?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The spring choice will depend on how much boost you run. A stiffer spring will keep the wastegate closed at higher pressures, which will raise the boost pressure. A softer spring will allow the wastegate to open up earlier, which results in lower boost.

  • Q: Stock turbo  metalmanduffy142357 years ago

I have a 2010 wrx, with a stock turbo, cattless downpipe, access port. What supporting mods do I need, besides boost controller, up pipe and tune.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  When installing this external wastegate on your 2010 WRX you will need to block off/hold close your internal wastegate, get a custom tune and uppipe. An upgraded boost controller or electronic boost control solenoid is recommended, but not necessary.

as soon as you install this to the up pipe do you need to get a tune? also can i do it on a reflashed ecu?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You would want to get a tune as soon as this is put on as the stock system is not intended to handle a external wastegate.
