I have a 2009 WRX and there was no bending pulling or hoping it was right. Super easy to put on and was exactly what i needed.

Awesome but not so awesome

So I bought this it is a good setup if you are having a weak wastegate for being stage 2 or higher on stock turbo... But doesn't help if your putting a lot more boost, a 7psi spring isn't gonna be good for 20psi boost... And the knowledge here on them is minimal... If you want to upgrade the spring on them you will have to use the small ewg springs from turbosmart they are the same ... And also when I got mine I realized when I was trying to install it, that mine never came with the little rod that holds the wastegate to the turbo flapper. So now I had to ghetto rig it with a nut, bolt and washers , not happy about that

Excellent part for a great price

Like another reviewer stated the boost response is much quicker than the stock part. I was skeptical of how noticeable the change would be but was happily surprised. The only complaint I have is with the directions that come with it, which could have been a little more detailed. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Boost response is fast! Much faster than stock. Peak boost is reached much quicker. The only thing I'm not sure on is the vacuum, I never hit more than 20hg on stock but now I go to 22hg after I release the throttle then down to 20 hg if that's normal then it's perfect.

  • Q: Turbosmart Internal Wastegaste Actuator  chinocastillo900 3 months ago

    Answer

I recently had this IWG actuator on my 2011 Subaru STI. I switched my turbo to a brand new vf39 with stock IWG. Ever since I changed my turbo I been hitting 9 psi max. If I put my old TS IWG actuator on the new turbo, would this help me be back to stock boost?

    • A: It sounds like in your current situation the car should get a pro tune if you didn't do one originally.

  • Q: fitment  Ruination 5 months ago

    Answer

I've seen on other websites this part number fits a 2004 sti, your website does not list this as compatible, is this correct? Do you sell a 2004 sti compatible direct bolt on actuator? My car has already been tuned and im not interested in getting it retuned because of a faulty actuator. Can you explain why a tune is requied for this? Seems like you would just have to match spring rates with stock.

    • A: This is a universal part, which is what Turbosmart also lists it as. Meaning, it can fit your car but there are also a lot of turbo's/vehicles that this will fit on. So we cannot confirm.

  • Q: Tune?  codemana12315182 2 years ago

    Answer

I am having a problem with my stock waste gate. And I am wanting to upgrade the only problem is my nearest place to tune my car is 4 hours away. If I get this part will I have to tune or do I just need to stick with stock?

    • A: A custom tune is required for this actuator.

  • Q: Noise  Newsubie09 3 years ago

    Answer

Does this make noise similar to the noise on the EWG? Also will this help with wastegaste flutter?

    • A: This does not make noise like an external wastegate, and this will slightly help with wastegate flutter, but flutter is resolved by upgrading the boost control solenoid.

  • Q: Boostcreep/overboost  jonathanyeung 3 years ago

    Answer

Could this solve the overboost/boostcreep? Ive experienced this with my 2013 wrx (stage 2 turbo back with SF intake) and i was told it was caused by a mechanical issue regarding the stock internal wastegate. My question is would this be an appropriate application instead of resorting to porting my stock waste gate.

    • A: Boost creep is typically an issue with a catless downpipe on a Stage 2 map not designed for it, but even with a pro-tune a catless downpipe may still have boost creep issues. The problem is the small wastegate door on the turbocharger itself, this actuator may help but typically an external wastegate is required.
