Does NOT need a tune with Cobb OTS/stock maps 4 months ago
BlueWrx
I bought a used sti and the previous owner had an EWG installed that routed back into the stock downpipe. Everything about the car was stock except the EWG. I could not find a used internal wastegate actuator from a vf48 so I bought this with fingers crossed that it would work. I removed the EWG setup, installed a normal uppipe and an invidia downpipe. Flashed a stage 2 map with my accessport and everything worked like a charm. Boost pressure is exactly where the maps notes state it should be. Air and fuel ratios looks good. Build quality seems really good (we will see how it holds up with time).

Awesome but not so awesome 4 years ago

So I bought this it is a good setup if you are having a weak wastegate for being stage 2 or higher on stock turbo... But doesn't help if your putting a lot more boost, a 7psi spring isn't gonna be good for 20psi boost... And the knowledge here on them is minimal... If you want to upgrade the spring on them you will have to use the small ewg springs from turbosmart they are the same ... And also when I got mine I realized when I was trying to install it, that mine never came with the little rod that holds the wastegate to the turbo flapper. So now I had to ghetto rig it with a nut, bolt and washers , not happy about that

Excellent part for a great price 5 years ago

Like another reviewer stated the boost response is much quicker than the stock part. I was skeptical of how noticeable the change would be but was happily surprised. The only complaint I have is with the directions that come with it, which could have been a little more detailed. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Q: Turbosmart wastegate   scoobabenoit826822 months ago

It says 7psi. Is that the Crack pressure? I’m looking to upgrade my stock Wrx’s wastegate to get more control and sensitivity out of the boost and realease. What is the minimum psi this cracks at and What is the Max amount of boost this particular TS Wastegate can go to? Thank you!
  • Q: IWG  Nemi8 months ago

If install this on my car is it safe to drive to the place i would be getting my tune? Also what would be the best downpipe for this i currently have but not yet installed a tomei expreme ti catback exhaust and want a good set up for when I do decide to install.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  No, If you are going to drive after installing you would want to have your tuner give you a base map to drive to his shop.

  • Q: Turbosmart Internal Wastegaste Actuator  chinocastillo90010 months ago

I recently had this IWG actuator on my 2011 Subaru STI. I switched my turbo to a brand new vf39 with stock IWG. Ever since I changed my turbo I been hitting 9 psi max. If I put my old TS IWG actuator on the new turbo, would this help me be back to stock boost?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It sounds like in your current situation the car should get a pro tune if you didn't do one originally.

  • Q: fitment  Ruination1 year ago

I've seen on other websites this part number fits a 2004 sti, your website does not list this as compatible, is this correct? Do you sell a 2004 sti compatible direct bolt on actuator? My car has already been tuned and im not interested in getting it retuned because of a faulty actuator. Can you explain why a tune is requied for this? Seems like you would just have to match spring rates with stock.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This is a universal part, which is what Turbosmart also lists it as. Meaning, it can fit your car but there are also a lot of turbo's/vehicles that this will fit on. So we cannot confirm.
