Great turbo, great power

I'd like to confirm that this fit my 05 Subaru Legacy GT, a welcomed upgrade from the stock vf40. I was able to mount it and attach all the proper coolant, oil, and vacuum lines using all oem lines without major issues or leaks. Only 2 small issues, but nothing that was major that would stop an install. 1. The small mounting bracket on the oil line to the turbo conflicted with the wastegate acutaor, I simply removed the bracket. 2. Coolant line near the bottom of the vf52 is a bit shorter than the vf40, it took a little bit more effort to get the rubber line to reach it but its entirely possible and I didn't have any leaks. Since this isn't the oem turbo for this car, I will be getting a tune for it before driving it hard and in boost to be safe. I've seen other posts about gains from a vf52 install and I'm excited to see the same.

Very Happy Customer

Upgraded my 2008 WRX. I have to say, I'm a very happy customer. I can tell that I've lost some low end power, but after 3000 rpms, it's no contest. Wish I had done it sooner.

Great spool up
Uriel.Engle 5 years ago
I installed this to replace my VF40 turbo on my 05 outback XT... it was straight forward as expected. The change in wastegate orientation required some trimming of the heat shield. A quick retune due to differing turbo spool and a new boost control and up-pipe got me back up and running quick. I did some quick dyno pulls and was able to pull similar numbers at 10.5lbs of boost on the VF52 as when I ran 14lbs of boost on my VF40. I will turn it back up when I have more time to tune and get new injectors and fuel pump.

does this come with the 09 restrictor pill for install on an 08?

    • A: This should have the boost pill in the vacuum lines going to the Internal Wastegate.

Two questions, will this fit into my '09 Legacy GT? And second is there any requirement of building up the bottom end? Don't want to blow the engine because of boost differences.

    • A: We are not able to confirm fitment on the 09 Legacy GT, there is no need to build the bottom end as this is a OEM turbo.
