Description

When it comes to aftermarket turbochargers for this particular platform, Blouch Performance Turbo is among one of the more popular choices among enthusiasts because they are built using careful manufacturing methods to produce a more powerful direct bolt-in option. On this page, you are looking at their Blouch TD05H-18G 10cm2 Billet Ball Bearing Turbocharger.

Investing in a larger turbo as well as supporting mods is one of the best power upgrades you could buy. Blouch is the leader in turbo development, they consistently build the best turbos. The new XT-R line of turbos from them consist of a billet compressor wheel to optimize the aerodynamics of a turbo and increase compressor flow within the same inducer geometry. Which allows you to build more horsepower at lower boost pressure.

It also consists of a 43 lb/min fully machined billet compressor wheel, a high-efficiency Garrett GT turbine wheel, Garrett GT full ball bearing system, and a 10cm2 bolt on turbine housing. Rated for 430 horsepower with supporting modifications.

Great Daily Driver Turbo!
QT 3 years ago
Guess I am first to officially review this great turbo! I think this turbo is overlooked by many with either the 20G-XTR or the Dom1.5-XTR. I made 365whp/400wtq on 93 octane @ 20.5psi (on a Mustang Dyno) with this turbo. To note, the dyno was done on a FL summer afternoon when the shop was 98+ degrees and 85% humidity. Spool starts at 3000rpm, full spool (peak torque) is 3700rpm. Turbo runs hard all the way to redline. I was able to squeeze out decent whp (and hold it) due to the 10cm housing vs the 8cm. If you are getting this turbo for the 2.5L, get the 10cm! The 20G-XTR will probably give you 20-30whp more, but you will lose spool time slightly. For a daily driver, this really hits the sweet spot between enough power and power usability around town. This turbo would be a perfect candidate for E85, which I plan to do if/when I want more power. 365awhp is plenty of HP for any daily driver. IMO, STI's respond perfect to anything over 350+whp. I can walk on newer (stock) GT 5.0's and other larger liter engines that are 400+HP rated. If you are looking for the 400whp club, go bigger turbo or E85. This turbo is about maxed out with the current fuel type/timing/pressure. Here is a list of other parts that got me to those dyno numbers: Blouch 18G-XTR 10cm DW65C Fuel Pump ID1000cc injectors Tomei FPR w/ guage (for GR stumble fix) Grimmspeed TMIC Tomei ELH w/ up pipe Invidia Catless (divorced) DP Invidia Q300 CBE AEM CAI Competition Clutch Stage 2 Cobb Accessport

  • Q: 18gtx-R 10 cm vs 20Gtx-r 8cm  [email protected] 6 months ago

    Answer

I have a Factory Five 818 based on a 2006 wrx with the Ej255 IAG built block TMIC, 3 Port boost controller, Up pipe, Cobb Bigmouth Downpipe, 255 fuel pump, aeromotive fuel rails, ID 1050 injectors. what turbo would be best for my application?

    • A: Any turbo that we sell is going to be a good option for you it comes down to how much power you are wanting make that will determine what turbo you will select.

  • Q: Newby to turbos  Big Daddy G 2 years ago

    Answer

I am interested in the TD05H-18GXT-R. I have the following questions. I have a 2016 WRX Limited. I have done the following upgrades; All Mishimoto; Cold air intake system, TMIC system, Catted J/down pipe, cat-back exhaust and Cobb V3 tuner (stage 2). I would like to get the (actual) HP up to around 400 at the wheels. My path is to upgrade the turbo to the 18GXT-R, add a 255 fuel pump and 1000cc injectors. Here's my question, will the turbo mate up with my current equipment? Will I have to make any changes or do any mods to get it to fit? And what is the 10cm exhaust size all about?

    • A: This turbo will not fit your car. The 2015+ WRX has a new turbocharger design that differs pretty drastically from the old STI style turbos. As far as I know, turbo upgrades for your car are not available yet.

  • Q: good upgrade from stock vf39?  nswright4031027 3 years ago

    Answer

I have a 2004 STi with Killer B ELH, Cobb TBE, 850cc injectors, Aeromotive fuel pump, and a K&N typhoon intake. I am looking to push about 340-370 WHP. Is this a good choice of an aftermarket turbo or should I get the 20GXT-R?

    • A: This turbo is rated for 430hp, which is roughly 340hp measured at the wheels. If you want more than 340whp, then 20G turbo would be a better choice.
