  • Q: Turbo blanket  y0itzandy1 year ago

What size turbo blanket is recommended for purchase?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  FactionFab's 3D turbo blanket for stock location turbos would work for this turbo and other similarly sized aftermarket options.

  • Q: Injectors  01eggy103 years ago

I was wondering what size injectors should be used for this turbo. Would 1050cc be good or should I get bigger ones?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Typically 1050cc injectors would be fine. You will need to consult your tuner to be sure though.

  • Q: 3.0xtr   Awag243 years ago

Will this turbo with supporting mods on a STI be able to get 500whp on e85 or would i need the 4.0xtr? Also would I see 400whp on 91 Oct. Which Blouch turbo would very me there?
    • 3 of 3 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This turbo is capable of putting down 550 HP to the crank which can translate to about 450-500 WHP. This turbo should be an excellent set up for you, however when you say supporting mods I would hope you are referring to your engine being built and not just simple bolt ons. To reiterate I would STRONGLY suggest getting your motor built before running anything larger than a 1.5.

A:  I had a fully built motor minus cams and with E85 and 27 PSI I hit 504WHP with this turbo. 450-500 is true. I did 440WHP on 91 and 504 on E85.

  • Q: Which turbo?  bikeskatesnow3 years ago

Thanks for answering my first question about the top mount but I still didn't really understand which turbo I should be looking at for that 400-450whp range. Dominator 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0 would be most optimal to reach this power while keepin lag at its lowest? And do all 3 of those fit stock location?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  All those turbos are stock location, there are many factors that play into how much power you can make with different turbos. The 2.0 would be sufficient to hit your power goals on race fuel. If you plan on using pump gas the 3.0 would be a better choice.

  • Q: Dom 3.0 xtr   Awag243 years ago

Will I make more horsepower with this turbo with supporting mods on 91 octane then with a dom 1.5xtr???? Also is there alot of lag with this turbo?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Yes this turbo will make more power than the Blouch Dominator 1.5XT-R. Depending on your supporting mods you could expect to see peak boost between 3800-4200 rpm.

  • Q: IWG Bracket  VickersSTI5 years ago

Does the Grimmspeed non-adjustable IWG bracket fit to close it off? And is it possible to order it without the IWG?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The fixed position bracket from Grimmspeed will likely not fit. You will need to get an adjustable bracket from either Grimmspeed or Cobb. We do not offer this turbo in an EWG configuration unfortunately.

  • Q: psi  clarson891996 years ago

around what psi would this turbo be maxing out ??
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This turbo will generally be efficient up to about 28-30psi, but your modifications can affect the efficiency range. You can run higher pressure, but it is not recommended to push a turbo beyond the point of being efficient.

  • Q: Boost controller  BooSTin6 years ago

This turbo comes with a 15psi internal waste gate is there a way to change the springs or change it over to external or would a boost controller allow me to raise it I'm hoping for 32+ psi and 550 who I know I would have to max this turbo out to get those numbers but can it do it safely
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The boost can be raised with a boost controller or by switching to external wastegate. In order to switch to EWG, an EWG uppipe, wastegate bracket and EWG are necesary. This turbo is rated for 550hp at the crank and for 550whp a larger turbo is recommended.

    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You will need a new tune when you switch to a different turbo. The computer needs to be calibrated for the parts used and not just the power level.

    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The stock 2011 pistons are reliable up to about 330whp and I recommend upgrading your pistons and rods to get the full potential from this turbo reliably.

Hey just wondering what the difference between the two inlet sizes? benefits? spool or top end. thanks
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  the larger inlet allows for better air flow to the turbo and typically will increase spool up and response of the turbo. Downside is that a 3 inlet requires a 3 inlet hose and many times also requires the removal of TGV's for proper fitment.

on the 7th picture, with the oil lines/gasket does that silver straight adapter piece bolt onto the stock oil feed/AVCS hardline? i have a 2005 STi. i just want to confirm that this enables the feed line to adapt onto the oem oil feed hardline.
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Mark, This would be a complete kit in regards to the oil feed system, that it will bolt on and go. This comes with fittings for both WRX and STi, and is the reason of why it has the 2 fittings included.

  • Q: stock block  brandonryon20408 years ago

Will this be a good turbo for my 2011 sti? Im getting all the supporting mods for it but I will be running the stock block. Im wanting to get as close to 400 whp as I can with out breaking the stock internals.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This is a great turbo for a 2011 STi. At 400 WHP the stock internals are definitely at risk for premature failure. I recommend looking into upgrading your stock internals for peace of mind. Thanks!

  • Q: Enough supporting mods?  natewielkiewicz130718 years ago

I'm looking at this turbo for my 05 STI. What supporting mods should I get to be able to push this turbo to 400whp+
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The basic supporting mods you will need will be a larger intercooler, larger injectors, larger fuel pump, turboback exhaust, intake and a custom tune. Now there will be more parts which you may wish to add, but those will be the minimal mods to get the engine to those power levels. Please contact us with any questions. Thanks, Rick

  • Q: 3.0XT-R vs Tomei M7960?  mark2jz8 years ago

i currently have a Tomei M7960 which works very well, but im looking for more power. 325whp on a very conservative tune is where im at currently. is this 3.0XT-R significantly larger than the M7960? ive been told the M7960 is very similar to a more common TD06 20G.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The DOM3 will be a larger unit as it uses a Garrett based center cartridge. It also being a BB turbo will have very good spool up for its size. Power wise this turbo is capable of doing low 400WHP when pushed to its peak efficiency of 25-26PSI, so it will be to make roughly 60-100WHP more then a M7960 can.

  • Q: Fitment 09 WRX?  ironstuner22709748 years ago

Will this fit a stock 09 WRX, with the exception of the intercooler? I plan on running a FMIC if everything else fits. Secondly, what other upgrades to you recommend for this size turbo? I already own Tomei headers and up-pipe, Invidia exhaust and down pipe & AEM intake. Also, I am planning on purchasing 1000cc injectors and 255walbro fuel pump.
    • 2 of 2 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The Blouch 3.0XT-R will fit your 09 WRX as it's an OEM Upgrade in terms of fitment. Aside from the supporting mods you listed, you may want to run a manual or electric boost control system along with a quality tune.

Can you run an ewg with the dom3 even though it has an internal gate. If not do they make some kind of block off plate or does blouch make it with ewg hot side
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Yes, you could either have the internal wategate welded shut, or purchase a wategate bracket which will hold the wastegate flapper shut. Unfortunately at the moment, Blouch does not offer their XT turbos with a external wastegate.

  • Q: excaust housing size   PanosS39 years ago

As i can see onthe blouch website i can order this turbo with a 3 inches inlet, and to choose between 10 or 8 cm exhaust housing. What are the pros/cons of those exhaust housings? Can i reach the rated power (ofcourse with a lot of modificationw to the engine) with the 8cm housing?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The difference will be that the 10cm will be able to flow more air and produce more power than the 8cm, but the spool time will be slower. You may be able to reach the rated power of the 10cm with the 8cm, but only with additional modification. However, if you compared the 10cm against the 8cm on the same set-up, the 10cm will always produce more power.
