  • Q: JDM replacement turbo   SleepinOBX2 months ago

I currently have a JDM EJ20X with an IHI VF38 turbo. Is this turbo a direct replacement and does it come with gaskets?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  No, your VF38 is a twin scroll turbo, so in order to run this turbo you would need to switch over to a single scroll manifold, uppipe, and downpipe. Hope this helps.

  • Q: Spool Rpm  samuel0827995 months ago

What Rpm does this turbo spool at, and where about is the peak torque? Ive seen some of the IhI twin scrolls have peak torque at 3000 rpm, how will this turbo compare?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Spool RPM and peak torque will vary a fair bit depending on your supporting mods, tune, the fuel you're using, etc. The twin scroll turbo does have slight benefits as far as spool timing, but require extensive modifications to work with USDM vehicles. If spool is a priority and you are using it on an OEM single scroll vehicle, the 8cm housing single scroll Dom 1.5XT-R is likely a better option for your setup.

  • Q: Turbo upgrade recommendataion   ShadowMaster1 year ago

Hi , I have 2002 WRX with stock OEM header, uppipe and downpipe, however, I have upgraded my fuel injector to 850cc and my spark plugs are one step colder, and I also got 3 inch turbo back exhaust. I had VF48 on my car but I took it out because the boost lag is really killing me. I don't like the turbo that take too long to boost. I am looking for the turbo that can give me a very good torque and quick response time, horse power is not that important for me, and I also don't want to modify my header/uppipe/downpipe so here is my question : 1. do I really need twin scroll turbo ? 2. If I don't, what is the turbo you can recommend for me? thank you so much Chao
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This turbo will not fir your USDM WRX as it is designed to fit the JDM twin scroll STi's.

  • Q: Oil line  RSTI982 years ago

I notice that it comes with an oil line but doesn't specify and allows me to select the correct one between STI and WRX. Do you know which oil line comes with it since the STI uses a different one due to AVCS? My engine is a ver8 EJ207. thanks.
    • 0 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  We are only able to confirm for USDM STI's because that is all we have confirmed fitment for this product, however, based off of this being confirmed for USDM STI's with AVCS, it should fit your JDM Version 8 EJ207.

What Blanket and Shield fits this application ,
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Any aftermarket heat shield should work with this turbo and for turbo blankets we typically recommend the PTP Subaru Turbo Blanket for the Blouch Dominator 1.5XT-R series.

  • Q: Size?  Munich4Lyfe5 years ago

How big is this turbo compared to the Tomioka Racing TD06- 20G t/s turbo? And which would you recommend, if you would recommend either, for a stock motor EJ205 with fuel, intercooler, and radiator upgrades?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This turbo is slightly larger than 20G turbos. One turbo is not necessarily recommended more than the other because they have similar characteristics and power ratings, but this turbo will spool slightly slower and offer more top end power.

  • Q: Elbow fitting on intercooler  coolrider21125 years ago

Im sorry, I know that I need the downpipe and headers which I already have just what pipe from the y pipe do I need to fit stock sti IC with blouch turbo?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You can use the stock Y pipe and if you want to replace the 90 degree elbow from the turbo to Y pipe, then you can use a universal 2 inch 90 degree elbow.

  • Q: Swap from non twinscroll to twinscroll  GTaylor6 years ago

Hi! Bought the Blouch 1.5 XTR 10cm2 for my 05 STI, non twinscroll. Now I'm in the market for the 2015 Forester XT. I was wondering if I could just buy the turbine casing for the twinscroll to convert my current turbo and use on the Forester.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You should be able to convert a single scroll turbo into a twin scroll turbo by switching the exhaust housing, but you may also need to change the wastegate actuator. Please contact us for more information.

  • Q: Supporting Parts  travelguy2k6 years ago

I see a twin scroll dp is required but you do not have any on your site. I have the Cobb bell mouth down pipe, is that compatible? Also are there any twin scroll up pipes that use EWG's?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The Cobb downpipe is not compatible with this turbo because the Cobb downpipe is made for single scroll turbos. We can special order the Tomei twin scroll downpipe and please contact us for more information about that. We are not aware of any EWG twin scroll uppipes at this time.

  • Q: spool again  gd6 years ago

with an aem intake, catless dp, invidia cattback, grimmspeed tmic, pistons, rods, fuel system, roughly what rpms will the car be spooling around. also how would the 2.5xt-r compare on the same setup
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  There is just no way for us to say what your spool will be. Spool is just a way to say how long it takes to reach a certain boost pressure, if you run 10psi you will get to that pressure much faster then 30psi. Next thing is your Compression ratio, altitude, fuel used along with tune will determine how fast or slow a turbo builds boost. Due to SOOOO many variables, you cant just say it will do XYZ.

  • Q: Spool?  Stando6 years ago

How does this turbo's spool characteristics compare to a stock 2009 STI's? How does it compare to the 3.0 twin scroll?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  As the turbo is larger then stock it will spool slower compared to the stock STi turbo on a car with the same mods. The 1.5 will spool faster then a similar set up with a 3.0. The rate of spool difference will depend heavily on the set up though.

  • Q: 11 wrx twin scroll?  penukoko13559bfdf181498109128c529e7 years ago

Will this work on my 11 wrx? Not sure if its twin scroll or not. What's the difference? I have Tomei UEL headers and SPT exhaust with a Perrin DP high flow cat.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  US model cars did not come with twin scroll turbos from the factory. To use this turbo you would need a new header, up pipe, downpipe, and a intercooler just to hook it up.

  • Q: Internals  Dialos137 years ago

400whp is my overal goal and just talking internals what should I upgrade? Rods, pistons, crank, etc...?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  400whp can be possible on a stock block, but you will be right at the limit of the motor and a full build would definitely be recommended. It is best to consult an engine builder for what you need and it does depend which vehicle you are starting with, but generally building the bottom end with pistons, rods, and crank is not a bad idea when attempting to achieve so much power.

  • Q: Stock internals  Dialos137 years ago

Would I have to upgrade my stock engine internals with this turbo?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Depends on the power output you are looking to make. if you plan on running this turbo at 400+WHP, internals are suggested.
