  • Q: Boost  Bradleyblazer4 months ago

How much boost can you expect out of this turbo?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This will 100% depend on the car's setup and tuner goals for this. We commonly see people run this turbo from 21 PSI to 25 PSI of boost.

  • Q: Turbo Blanket  04FXT2 years ago

Is it still possible to use a turbo blanket with the 44mm external wastegate? If so which ones will fit?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You would need to cut the turbo blanket in order to make this fit. We know the T3/T4 turbo blankets fit the GTX3076R however we cannot confirm it to fit the external get exhausted housing.

  • Q: Rally use  Tvd2502 years ago

Would this be a suitable choice for rally use? Can it be equipped with a 34mm retractor?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It's hard to say if you can use this for rally.. as it would just come down to your power goals, etc.. If you are referring to a 34mm restrictor, it wouldn't be recommended for this turbo and typically something you'd see on a smaller turbo like the GTX28's.

  • Q: EWG  OkieSTI3 years ago

do i need a EWG on my uppipe or can i just use the one on the turbo? basically , can i just run an uppipe with no wastgate on it?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  If you have an external wastegated up pipe you will need to cover that but yes you will run the wastegate off this turbo.

  • Q: Heat Shield  shane.m.smith98042884 years ago

What type of heat shield would you recommend for this turbo? The External gate makes this difficult to find a suitable one.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  I generally recommend getting a turbo blanket for applications like this. If you are set on a heatshield, most aftermarket options should allow for the turbo to fit. I would say the exception would be the SPT heatshield as it limits space a bit more compared to other shields.

  • Q: 2014 wrx  niickm1421802654 years ago

I bought this turbo to use with my 2014 wrx. On atp website it says i need to get a hose connection to the compressor outlet. Can anyone direct me to where i can find that hose?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It will depend on what intercooler you will be running. There is a hose for this purpose available for the Process West Verticooler. It is called the traditional turbo upgrade hose. The Perrin FMIC and Piping will come with the necessary couplers to run a traditional style STI turbo. If you have any other intercooler, you will likely need to custom make piping or hosing to get a proper fit on your car.

I have the same turbo but without the housing and im planning to make my turbo do the fluttring noise while shiffiting insted of the pshhhhh noise what do i have to do ? Add ewg ? Or change the bov from hks ssqv to another bov ? Or i have to do another thing
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The flutter sound is generally compressor surge and is positive pressure being forced backwards through the compressor, this can cause premature wear and is not recommended.

do you know the waste gate size needed
  • Q: reliability  Ykorovesis6 years ago

how has the stock motor been holding up with the power with this turbo is making? I know there will never be that one answer as to how much power stock motor can hold. anything above stock is a risk. how do you like the performance as well
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You will not be able to use this turbo to its full potential on a stock motor. There are more cost effective ways to build power without building the motor and you will get more out of something smaller with a stock motor.

    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

  • Q: Fit with GC8 STI 1999 ?  monmas7 years ago

is this turbo will fit direct with STI 1999 2.2L ?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  We do not have this unit as a direct bolt on so I cannot guarantee fitment, but the GC8 STI should have the same flange as this turbo and I would imagine it is close to fitting. we just do not have the ability to confirm this.

  • Q: lag  Andy.7 years ago

how much lag did to get when you run the rallysport sti as the review shows for mod list vs stock turbo??? in the same sence how would the gtx3071R compare also?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Looking at they dyno graphs you can see that there is almost no difference in lag. Driving in 4th great and higher we are able to hit 25+PSI by 3800RPM, and the only noticable difference is the on-off throttle at low RPM seems lower then stock. But once over 4000RPM it responds just as fast as a stock STi VF series turbo with just WAY more punch. We have not compared this to the 3071, but the 3071 should be even faster to spool, but will not hold boost up top as well.

  • Q: Is this right for me  nate7 years ago

Is this a setup for someone that wants to make better top end without loosing the low end spool and power of stock? I have a protube stage 2 and was looking at the blouch 3xtr and was wondering how it compare to this?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This is a quality turbo that can be used on a daily driver. Because it is noticeably larger than the factory turbo you will have some increased turbo lag. This GTX3076R and the Dom 3.0 are very comparable and both use Garrett cartridges. ATP states this turbo will flow around 63lbs per min where the Dom 3.0 is rated at around 55lbs/min.

  • Q: Additional Items  SEARCHING...8 years ago

What other additional items do i need to add if i install this to my STI 2008 GRF Eurospec right handrive
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  A 44mm external wastegate and a custom tune are required with this turbo. In order to get the full potential from this turbo it is recommended to upgrade your fuel pump, injectors, intercooler, 3 inch turbo inlet, aftermarket downpipe and turbo heatshield. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee fitment with vehicles outside the USA.

  • Q: Fit  sphillips.islreal734028 years ago

Can the externally gated turbo fit under the stock mount intercooler with the Tial 44mm wastegate installed on the exhaust housing? I plan to go front mount later but want to do it in stages and would love it if this could work with the stock TMIC for now...
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  ATP has verified that this turbo and a Tial 44mm wastegate will fit with the stock top mount as long as the stock manifold is used as well.

  • Q: how much boost is too much?  julien.s8 years ago

How much boost can a 38mm EWG on this turbo vent? I was thinking of running 24psi-ish. Would I be better off with a smaller turbo like the GTX071R?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This turbo is specific for the Tial 44mm wastegate, but the boost levels you are wanting to run would be just fine with this setup. And in regards to the turbo choice, that will mainly depend on the power levels you are wanting out of the car. Thanks.

  • Q: ewg uppipe  julien.s8 years ago

I already have a grimmspeed uppipe with a 38mm tial wastegate. Should I get this turbo and keep my EWG and just use a 44mm blockoff plate? Will I have issues running this turbo with a 38mm EWG?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You can use your 38mm wastegate with a 44 block off plate on the turbo. This turbo has the capability to flow more than a 38mm wastegate can vent, but will still work depending on how much boost you are running.

  • Q: Spool characteristics   sphillips.islreal734028 years ago

I have a fully built 2009 STI with all supporting mods. AEM CAI, invidia uppipe, catless turbo back exhaust, 1000cc injectors, forged engine, 274 BC cams...etc. What RPM would this turbo spool? And full boost?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  That will depend allot on your AVCS settings along with your ignition timing. However we are able to see 19PSi by 3800RPM in 5th and 6th gear using this turbo on our in house STi. Full Boost would depend on what you set your peak boost level to.
