  • Q: fitment and other install requirements  dgalupar569363 years ago

I have a invidia catted DP, i was wondering if this item would fit with my DP. AND, what other requirements do i need to run this? or what are your recommendations?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This bolts up from the header to the turbo. So it actually doesn't come in contact with your down pipe. This up pipe comes with all the hardware necessary for install.

  • Q: Smoke  inorman3 years ago

Hi there, Is it normal to have more exhaust smoke off a catless uppipe? thanks
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  In general the only time you should see any smoke from the exhaust is at wide open throttle. Rarely should you see any smoke at idle, unless there is unburned fuel the exhaust is burning off. I would take it into a shop to make sure everything is good.

  • Q: GrimmSpeed disclaimer "for Off Road Use Only"  inorman3 years ago

I read in two separate documents that Grimm Speed states that the Up Pipe in question 3001 among others are for off road use only. Could you clarify what this means. Thanks
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Because this product replaces/removes an OEM emissions control device we must state that this product is for offroad use only.

  • Q: Are these the correct gaskets?  Jbreezy4 years ago

i am buying this grimspeed uppipe and a grimspeed downpipe. they both come with the gaskets that those two items directly connect to. I believe in order to install the uppipe i will need extra gaskets as well. Are these the correct gaskets i would also need? part #'s GRM 025001 and GRM 020001
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Hello, You will need GRM 020001 to replace the manifold gaskets after removal. But it is not required to remove the OEM cross pipe for installation.

  • Q: Tune needed  hatch_life104 years ago

2010 WRX: I'm replacing my clutch later this week. I plan on installing my Grimm speed up pipe along with my Invidia Catless DP. Can I get away with using my Cobb AP V2 OTS Stage 2 map for dp? Or is a tune required?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  A catless downpipe will require a pro-tune and in some cases an external wastegate is even required. The COBB OTS maps will not work with a catless downpipe.

  • Q: Up pipe tune  Dreams02WRX4 years ago

So I'm seeing that a tune is required after you install this upgrade. Is it possible to just use a Cobb ots map with an accessport?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Tuning is not necessary for just an uppipe and you can use the stock tune or the Cobb OTS maps as long as you don't have any other upgrades that are not specified in the map notes.

The instructions for this up pipe require removal of the headers, but they don't provide new gaskets. Is this an issue?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It is not because that is just one way to remove the uppipe.

I just purchased this uppipe and im excited to install it, however im hearing mixed responses about whether or not i will need a pro tune with this upgrade. My question for RSD is if i have a catless downpipe and an accessport on Stage 2 will i need a tune with this uppipe? Is it absoultly necessary
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Yes a tune is needed. Your boost will change dramatically and your car needs to be tuned accordingly. Mike

  • Q: Up pipe install  Cotts5 years ago

Is it necessary to remove the down pipe for this installation? I have an 04 wrx bone stock and I want to replace the catted up pipe first in fear of the cat breaking apart and ruining my turbo. Im worried that removing the down pipe will be harder than in the video(seeing the upgraded turbo/downpipe) and bolts will be too rusty to reinstall.
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It is necessary to remove it in order to access the bolts for the up pipe. Mike

A:  It is possible to replace the uppipe without removing the downpipe, but it is very difficult to get to one of the nuts on the backside of the turbo with the downpipe installed.

  • Q: EGT Question  joel__ryan6 years ago

I am planning on getting a Cobb AP at the time of ordering this up pipe, with the AP is there a way to bypass the lack of EGT in this up pipe? I keep reading that I will most likely get a CEL with this product because it does not have an EGT bung. Or should I just do the resistor mod?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You can do the resistor mod or you can remove the CEL with your COBB AP. Mike

    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The Accessport does have the ability to delete the CEL for the EGT if you choose to remove the sensor. You could also run the resistor if needed, but I do think the Accessport would be the best way to clear that CEL. Thanks.

  • Q: one more question  RexWagon126 years ago

should have asked this first, does the 02 wrx wagon come with the EGT option?
  • Q: CEL from EGT delete?  RexWagon126 years ago

Ive read that with the removal of the EGT on the up-pipe you will get a CEL, can someone confirm this and if so whats the best way to fix this?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  If you remove it from the uppipe but leave it plugged in you should not get a check engine light You can ziptie it off to the side to keep it out of the way. as all the sensor reads it temp, Which will not cause a check engine light if it is still plugged into the harness.

  • Q: Performance  vizcarra887 years ago

Will i need to retune after this? I have a cobb Accessport. Thanks!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The Cobb Maps where developed with a stock up pipe in place on the vehicles. So if you use a Accessport you might need a retune, but the Up-Pipe is not such a critical item that anyone ever does get a retune for it.

  • Q: Install  ssublimee84692797 years ago

How hard is the install? What all do you have to remove to install it/access it? Thanks!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The uppipe installation tends to be somewhat time consuming. Difficulty wise it isn't bad. To access the uppipe you will need to remove the exhaust manifold from under the car where you then can access the uppipe bolts connected to the turbo and drop the uppipe down!

    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It is a PITA! If you have any miles on it and driven and any bad weather, most everything will be rusted and not easy to remove. It is almost always necessary to jack up the engine to get the stock one out. If you have not done your down pipe recently, those bolts will be seized as well. Make sure you have the right tools, rust penetrator, something to lift the front end off of the ground, an extra jack and about a day. A friend to help will be a huge benefit as well. It is a must to do the up pipe in older models and is a great mod, but it is not easy by any means and it does not just fall out after being unbolted, crawl under and take a look at the whole it needs to come out of and notice the size of all the crap on the outside of the stock one. ;) that said, it should be done and if you have the $$ pay for someone to do it and save your self getting pissed off lol.
