Will this fit hks headers and cobb stage 2?
  • Q: Proper fitment  LGTMATT1 year ago

Will this product mate with the tomei expreme UEL heder on a 2007 Subaru LGT?
    • 0 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This will not mate with a Tomei header of any kind because Tomei uses a 3 bolt flange. You will need an up-pipe that uses a 3 bolt flange.

  • Q: Uppipe need wraping?  albhsi1 year ago

Does the uppipe need to be wrapped to prevent excessive heat in the engine bay (or is it going to be similar temp to stock)? Also, does heat wrapping the uppipe cause cracking of the part?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  No, you don't need to heat wrap this part but it will provide cooler temps if you do. No heat wrapping won't cause pre-mature cracking.

  • Q: Turbo Port and Polish  rcperez3 years ago

I plan on putting this up pipe on a VF22 turbo, pretty much the same turbine flange, but would the turbo flange need to be port and polished to get the most out of this upgrade?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The turbo flange should be the exact same and no you wouldn't need to port or polish anything. Just a solid tune to get the most out of it.

Will this uppipe throw a CEL?

  • Q: 2005 WRX Boost issues?  maeisenberg3 years ago

Hi, I'm looking at buying the V3 Accessport & Downpipe & Boost Controller from Cobb Tuning, and I'd like to switch to a Catless Uppipe to avoid experiencing anything like the horror stories I've about the OEM Cat in the Uppipe letting go and causing some considerable damage. My question is, if I follow the appropriate measure - have a professional install it, use the Stage II maps, etc - will this part cause any back pressure or boost creep issues? I just really don't want to blow my turbo/motor - can't afford it.
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The uppipe cat does not cause boost creep issues like the lack of a downpipe catalytic converter would. The uppipe would not require a tune but can be run on the Stage 2 map as long as you have the correct hardware for the rest of the vehicle like a catted 3" turboback exhaust.

  • Q: 2011 sti tune?  Andrea4 years ago

Does this require a tune on a 2011 sti and if so are there any off the shelf maps on the accessport v3 to support this?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  In most cases no, an uppipe does not always require tuning. If you have a wideband gauge it would be best to make sure after installation you are still operating within your tunes parameters.

Will this provide performance gains for an STI? I know the SIT is already Catless...
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This will allow minor improvements, but for the work involved we usually recommend other parts before the uppipe. If you happen to be replacing the header and already have it removed the uppipe is a great addition but by itself not extremely beneficial.

  • Q: 2011 Subaru wrx  Alex13134 years ago

Does my 2011 Subaru wrx have an egt sensor and will I have any problems using this pipe. Also it says catless does my stock upipe have one. Also will I have any problems over boosting. And lastly I'm a running a stage 2 will I need a pro tune
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Your uppipe will not have an EGT sensor or cat. While you shouldnt have any overboosting issues, a custom tune is recommended to take advantage of the added airflow.

  • Q: 1993 Subaru Turbo Legacy  Subie224 years ago

Hi there, Curious as to if this will work with a 1993 Subaru Turbo Legacy, VF-11 Stock turbo. I can fit 02 to 07 downpipes/exhaust but just curious as for the up pipe.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The uppipe should fit although we could not guarantee fitment without the manufacturer confirming. We do have an employee with a '91 who uses the standard uppipes and downpipes without a problem.

I have a 2011 ST. Will installing this effect any EGT Bung? Does my stock uppipe have a cat?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This uppipe does not include an EGT bung and you must delete the EGT sensor to run this properly. Your vehicle should not include a catalytic converter in the uppipe from factory.

I have this installed on my USDM 2006 WRX and am wondering what aftermarket un-equal length headers are compatible with this product?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Any standard OEM length 2 bolt manifold should be compatible. I recommend looking at the Perrin or Killer B 4-1 Holy manifold. Have a nice day.

A:  It will not bypass that sensor, you will need to use a resistor.

Does this up pipe come with an egt bung? If not what can I do to get around this problem?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This up pipe doesn't come with an EGT bung. You can do the resistor mod to bypass it. We recommend reusing the egt bung, so either an uppipe with one, or put on in.

since there's no egt bung curious if that would throw a code or if it's not that major.. also plan on doing tomei UEL headers down the line, would this uppipe fit?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Your car doesn't have an egt in the uppipe, so you will not have to worry about that. This uppipe is not compatible with the Tomei header, as it uses a 3 bolt design for the uppipe. Also, the Tomei header comes with an uppipe.

    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This uppipe will not change the sounds very much, it removes the catt in the uppipe to prevent it from breaking down and sending particles into your turbo.

All the forums I read say that 06+ wrx's don't have a pre cat in the uppipe yet every picture I find of a 11 wrx exhaust show a precat. Can you clear this up?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  To my understanding, Subaru only put a cat in the uppipe from 2002-2005. They have since removed that cat from the system. Thank you.
