I'm truly amazed at how annoying this inlet was to install. Based on the picture, it looks relatively straight forward and simple. However, on my 2012 WRX, The fitments for the hoses were not only off, the fitment in general is awful. It took me an hour to simply seat the end of the inlet onto my turbo (and it's not an exact fit, I'll take a picture if I have to). I had to cut my a couple of my vacuum lines in attempt to actually seat it under the manifold. The evap sensor (I believe it is because of the fuel line entering one hose and a vacuum hose out of the other one) I wasn't able to fit on at all because the inlet is to big. The hoses are also very awkwardly placed, I had to swap two of the OEMs locations to actually seat them. The air bypass hose had a hard time sliding onto the inlet because there's a line underneath that the inlet was on (it was hard to convince it not to squish because of the sheer size and how the intake manifold doesn't have THAT much clearance). The fact that there wasn't even an installation video for this particular model on your website should have been a flag on it's own, but because of the TB to IC hose I bought, I assumed it would have instructions like the last purchase. Don't even get me started how that wasn't a direct fit (as claimed) either -_-v I should have just bought the perrin for a few dollars more. I'm just a hobby mechnic inbetween amatuer and intermediate so maybe the way I went about it wasn't as flush or correct as it COULD have been (there was very limited amounts of data online to actually figure out the best way to install without taking off the entire manifold), but this has been the most annoying purchase/installation I've ever had.
I recommand this item ,it's no simple to install but the performance is there.
Today, I installed one of these inlets on a customer's 2008 WRX. Having installed many inlets before, I wasn't too worried about the difficulty from the get go. However, fitment issues make me have to give this product a low rating. I installed this and a new BNR turbo at the same time (w/o removing intake manifold), and for some reason, the fittings on this thing do not fit any of the hoses properly other than the BPV hose. I had to remove each fitting and heat each one up with a butane torch to force each hose onto the fitting. Also, the hose that runs from the inlet to the PCV hardline at the back of the manifold, that hose was way too big for the fitting on the inlet. I ended up having to use a Zebra clamp on that to keep it on. And yeah, why the heck does the top fitting turn 90 degrees when that PCV hose installs straight up and down on the stock inlet? While I did not have to trim the end of the inlet to install onto the turbo, this thing took way longer to install than it should have. The best silicone inlet for the 08-14 WRX is by far the Samco one, and the Perrin one is at least a breeze to install because how flexible it is. The Mishimoto has the stoutness of the Samco, but the fitment is just so randomly off. None of my difficulties had to do with not removing the intake manifold, as there is plenty of room to shove this thing in, it just needs to be revised to better match the orientation and size of the fittings of the stock, plastic inlet.
I bought this for my 2009 WRX because the stock induction hose was deformed and would no longer stay attached to the turbo. This initially looked like a great product, and I was happy with the quality. But when it came to actual fitment, it fell short. I ended up having to trim the rear of it down by about 1/4 and at a slight angle in order to get it to fit flush with the turbo. The inlet for the PCV hose (which is the rearmost inlet, and hardest to get to) is also not the same as the stock induction hose. The stock PCV inlet sticks straight upward; the one on this induction hose is at a 90 degree angle. Not only that, the PCV inlet is a much, much larger diameter than the stock one, and even larger than the outlet on the PCV itself. I had to use a 1/2 heater hose to connect to the PCV outlet, and then heat it up and gradually expand it until it would fit onto the PCV inlet on the Mishimoto induction hose. Installing the stock hose is a real pain, I know, but installing this aftermarket hose was even worse. The fact that it's not very flexible is a good thing once it's on, but it makes it very difficult to install. The hose needs to be deformed to clear the TGV housings, but doing so makes it so that you can no longer fit the rear of the hose over the turbo inlet. I had my intake manifold off at the same time, so I was able to get this induction hose on by fitting the induction hose onto the turbo (and between all of the intake manifold hoses, etc.), and then lowering the intake manifold onto the head. It was a real pain. I don't think you could install this without removing the intake manifold. It's difficult but possible with the stock induction hose, but it would be very, very difficult if not impossible to do with this one. I really wanted to like this induction hose, but getting it to fit was just a nightmare. I wouldn't have minded if RSD didn't say that there was Confirmed Fitment for my 2009 WRX, but that clearly wasn't the case. Just look at the stock PCV inlet vs this one and you'll see that this is just simply not the same as a stock induction hose. Oh, also, mine didn't come with any of the hardware pictured in the product photos. I managed to use regular hose clamps, but it still was just one more thing that I found frustrating. The upside is that I got the thing installed and it works fine, so that's good. But I wouldn't recommend this to anyone without clearly telling them that they'll have to do some work to get it to fit.
