I share the similar experience with reviewer, "fixed it". This part replaces the factory one and now my shifter is nice and tight. My only wonder is, without any rubberized or teflon protecting against metal to metal wearing, how long this will this fix last. I am reserving an overall 1 * for this... It is easier to lift the car on a hoist, remove transmission mounting and removed the whole shifter assembly since I was also installing a Perrin short-shifter ball and Whiteline shifter kit.
I have a 2006 sti and my shift nob had a ton of play when I would move it side to side. Even when I would put it into gear it would still have a lot of play from side to side. I bought the Kartboy short shifter and all bushing in the hope to fix that but I ended up realizing that did not fix the side to side wobble. After I did the u-joint instal, however the play from side to side was fixed. My shifts finally feel solid as they should and gears slide in like butler. I highly recommend this product as it will fix the wobble from side to side on the shift nob. (Note I did drop the transmission a tad bit to get more clearance when removing the old u-joint and installing the new one). Hope this helped!
So my shifter was moving a lot when on neutral. It would slope from left-to-right and just would not firm up and sit still like how it was when brand new. Even after changing to the kartboy short shifter and the kartboy shifter bushings, things did improve but I was not satisfied. I wanted it to be perfect or at least looks and feels like how it was when I first got my car. My mechanic told me to get this and have it replace the stock plastic/rubber one. Now my shifter is solid and firm, does not move much and even when you try to shift it left-to-right while on neutral, there is very little movement! I am so glad I finally have a shifter that feels so good to shift! On a side note, there is a price increase on these. But even with these few dollars increase, it is something I would still strongly recommend it.

I can’t find any installation instructions for this product. They didn’t come in the box and I can’t find them on the TS website. Are the instructions available through RSD?

A: I haven’t seen any specific written step by step instructor this specific part, but I did find this video that shows how to replace the U-joint, which should be essentially the same. Here’s the link:

Q: Left/Right slop WRXItalia2 years ago
The left to right slop on my shifter is horrible. any gear feels like neutral in that matter.. Was looking to get a shortshifter from kartboy but I need to replace the trunnion bushings. Is this that? If not, do you sell them?

A: This is for the U-Joint, also known as the Trunnion. This is a solid piece which replaces the stock U-Joint, which has rubber bushings. This one is solid, with no bushings needed.
