I bought this kit for a jdm ej205 motor that im putting in a 02 wrx. Most of the idlers were good quality but gates decided to cheap out on the small idler. I bought tge racing kit in hopes of getting the best quality bearings and they were all good but that small idler. The small one says its made in korea. And its super thin walled metal. Its garbage. The old one on the car was way better quality and thicker metal. Besides that everything else was good. I highly recommend buying the cam locks if this is your first time doing this on a subaru. Thanks rallysportdirect for getting the parts to me fairly quick👍👍👍👍👍

I used this pump and timing belt when replacing the head gaskets on my jdm ej205. There was one extra tube because the jdm engine does not have an oil cooler, so I simply put a short hose on it and blocked it off with a bolt and a hose clamp. Works great! It also came with a tool to slip the belt on more easily which was nice, and a little tube od licktite for the idler pulleys.

Top Notch Quality 6 years ago
    JDM-STI
Ordered this kit for my JDM WRX STI. Everything is top quality. The timing belt quality is the same as other expensive aftermarket timing belt. I know some people may have some doubt on the water pump but believe me, it's a good quality water pump. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars is they miss 2 pieces of cam seal in the shipment as I ordered it together. Big Thumbs Up!!!

    QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

    • Q: EJ 207 v7  Alex2 months ago

Is this the kit I need for my 2002 wrx with the ej207 v7 in it?
    • Q: Racing vs standard   Nelson Asay4 months ago

So my main question is, what would be ideal or more proper? I am currently siting at 280whp/267ftq on my 03 wrx. My goAL is for power is between 330whp-350whp. Would I want this one or the standard? Thanks RSD!

A:  The biggest difference between the kits is the material of the belt. The Kevlar reinforced belt on the Racing kit will be a bit stronger. Personally, I'd do the racing kit, but both would likely work fine for your setup.

Hi, what's the difference between Gates TCKWP328ARB and Gates TCKWP328BRB or Gates TCKWP328RB

A:  They will all be for different vehicle fitments. To find your kit, you can use the vehicle filter or check which vehicles will work in the "fitments" portion of the page. If you still need help, please contact our customer service department and we will be happy to help!

    • Q: Difference  Mike2 years ago

What is the difference between the regular timing belt kit vs. the racing timing belt kit? What would be best for a modified engine in the 275-320whp range? Going with an 18g turbo and ewg setup soon. Thanks Mike
      • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The Racing Kit with include the Kevlar backing timing belt, which is designed for higher output engines. Typically for anything under 450whp the standard kit would be ideal.

    • Q: Water Pump Turbine Type and Stage 2 Question  Jackstand Johnny3 years ago

Hi. Does the turbine inside the Gates water pump have blades like the factory water pump or is it a solid cylindrical piece? Im unable to tell with the supplied pictures. Also, would you recommend I spend the extra $200 on the racing timing belt over the factory timing belt if Im at a stage 2 tune with my 2002 WRX? Or is the racing timing belt only needed for engines making more than 300 horsepower? Thanks!
      • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The water pump in this kit uses a blade style impeller. The Racing timing belt is recommended for engines over 350-400whp, and there would be no advantage to the Racing belt on a Stage 2 car.
