  • Q: oem timing belt guide   omar2 years ago

does this work with oem guide ?? any rubing ?? and what is the limt whp for the oem timing belt ?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  We have not seen any rubbing/clearing issues with the Timing Belt Guide. In regards to power limit, Gates does not rate this to a specific WHP but this belt is 3x stronger VS the OEM belt.

  • Q: Stock Power with Racing belt  angeloferradas258423 years ago

I will be at or around stock horsepower for while so will this racing timing belt be an overkill for a stock-ish engine?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This would be a great option to add to your vehicle, even with stock power output! It is all around a stronger and longer lasting belt, so you really can't go wrong! :)

  • Q: Timing Belt Fit  Desert Racer5 years ago

I have an '07 STi and was planning on using this belt for my upcoming replacement. I ran across some info that said that this belt may rub on the timing belt guide above the crank. Of course I can't find the link now. Anyway, has anyone else run across this problem, or is it just fiction?

A:  We have not found any issues with this belt and the OEM timing guide, but it may rub some aftermarket timing guides. This belt will work with the Cosworth or Tomei timing guides.

  • Q:   CraftyCraft6 years ago

In the video, you mention the term high horsepower which to me seems to be a relatively vague term. After what approximate horsepower would you recommend the upgrade from OE to this?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The biggest benefit to this belt over the OEM spec units is the extra reinforcement internally that prevents stretching. This is a benefit to cars that are revving above stock rev limiter, or are being often revved to the rev-limiter (such as road racing). There is no magic HP number, but if you drive your car hard or rev it above stock rev-limiter then it is a good idea to move to this belt.
