This is the COBB Tuning NexGen Stage 2+ Flex Fuel Power Package. The use of E-85 has been relevant in the racing scene now for 15+ years, and within this time frame, enthusiasts have experienced the trials and errors of what it actually takes to safely employ ethanol. In the early developmental stages of ethanol use, the formula was a built fuel system with larger injectors and a tune to run the injectors at a higher duty cycle. As time went on, enthusiasts learned that ethanol accelerated corrosion to average fuel system components especially if there was any moisture in the system. The aftermarket adjusted and built fuel lines, fuel pumps, and fuel injectors with ethanol-friendly materials. And then we learned that not all ethanol is created equal. Although it is dubbed "E-85", the average ethanol content is 70% making it E70 or even lower. The problem is that many vehicles were tuned with boost and timing developed for the ethanol that was inside the vehicle's gas tank at the time of the tuning.
Still, at the end of the day, ethanol was much cheaper than race gas, and with the proper fuel system upgrades and a tune, you can run boost levels that will greatly surpass the limits of pump gas, and that is why ethanol is still a coveted fuel among enthusiasts and racers, and it delivers low emissions.
