Unless you really, really, REALLY know how to build a racing engine, and how to actually ENGINEER an engine for heat tolerances, expansion properties of the various materials in use, optimal oil temperature, etc., then don't bother with an aftermarket "upgrade" for your thermostat. Subaru designed this thermostat to keep your engine at a specific operating temperature for a number of reasons, and changing that equation by more than a few degrees is likely to throw the balance of your engine, oil system, etc. off. If you need "extra" or "better" cooling capacity, go with the OEM thermostat and a performance radiator. This will allow for the thermostat to open and pass coolant through the engine as needed, while still providing for that "extra" cooling capacity you "need" (seriously, unless you've got some crazy mods in your car, the OEM cooling system is adequate).

Bought it when I bought my gates timing belt kit for my 05 wrx. Came as described I only use OEM parts when it comes to timing kit. It doesn't come with the gasket so either make sure you get one with the timing belt kit or you order one separately. Never a bad idea to have a spare
