Description

The Plasma Spark is the Spark Plug Boot (Socket) specially designed and developed to work as a secondary amplifier. It creates strong sparks in a very short time (nano-seconds), creating a faster flame front and quicker light-off of the mixture kernel to complete combustion. After installing the Plasma Spark, you can feel an immediate torque increase from low RPM and get more horsepower in the high RMP range. Installation is easy, direct bolt-in to the engine, no splicing or cutting into stock wiring. Simply replace the stock boots with their Plasma Spark Boots and you’re ready to go.

    Answer

I have a 2007 STi and have come up on my 105K maintenance. So, I'm looking at replacing the timing belt and plugs but, I've noticed recently that I'm getting some pulsating/surging under hard acceleration. I'm thinking it's do to a possible miss from a one of the cylinders. I'm not getting any error codes but, was wondering if replacing the coils and boots would be a likely culprit, or just a waste of money? I'm also replacing the clutch, and installing a new Invidia downpipe while I'm doing that job. Which of course I'll have the car tuned before running it hard. If the coils/boots are likely to be causing my issue then, would this be a better route than OEM to go with (considering the other mods)? Also, do you recommend any change in the plug temperature range? Thanks

    • A: It is possible that one or more coils is starting to fail, but they generally cause a noticeable misfire rather than a mild surge. It is difficult to say if these coils would fix the issue without knowing exactly what the problem is. You would not get the full benefits from these for a close to stock car, but there is no downside other than needing a custom tune. Stock heat range plugs are recommended for your mods.

  • Q: Plasma boot or coil pack?  Matt_McCrash 4 years ago

    Answer

If I had to pick between the plasma spark boot or the plasma coil pack which would be the better buy? Basically do these plasma spark boots work as well as or better than the coil pack?

    • A: Overall, the coil pack is a better buy since they produce more overall amperage. These products would also require a tune upon installation.

Hi, I have a 2006 XT (automatic) boosted to 1.1 bar and producing 260 bhp. Since it is not clear to me, if i install the Okada Project Plasma Spark, should I need a re-programming ? Thanks
