  • Q: Exedy Stage 1 Clutch  arbatist6165223 days ago

I have a 2012 WRX that i bought new and currently have 127k on the clock. I had my clutch assembly replaced at 112k this year after driving for too long on a bad throw out bearing (oh well). I’ve heard that the throw out bearings on these transmissions can go bad and after my last experience was wondering if this kit would offer some increased longevity in that department. The car has an intake, car back exhaust and Cobb tune but doesn’t see the track. I’m considering buying this kit to stash so that when this bearing/clutch goes I only have to pony up for labor. Thoughts?

A:  This would be a solid kit for your setup, and should offer great longevity at your power level.

  • Q: Deceleration chatter   Mondo911 month ago

So I just got my clutch replaced with the exedy stage 1 clutch kit and now I hear a chattering noise when I’m gear around 3500 rpms as I’m decelerating What could this chatter possibly be? Same flywheel used by the way.

A:  Assuming the clutch was broken in properly, it could be several things, possibly unrelated to the clutch, like a heat shield. Give us a call or email with more details, we'll see if we can help you figure it out.

  • Q: My 2012 Subaru WRX  Antonio Gonzalez 1 year ago

I am wanting to get this Exedy Stage 1 clutch but not wanting a Light weight flywheel. Can I use the oem flywheel with this clutch? I tried to look for a exedy oem flywheel for my car but couldn’t find it on here.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You are able to use a brand new OEM flywheel but reusing an OEM flywheel is not recommended.

Will this clutch be compatible with a Competition brand lightweight flywheel?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Technically, we can only confirm Exedy's flyheels for Exedy's clutch kits. However, it has been common for our customer to cross brands with no issues.

Will this fit my 2015 wrx it says it does on the website but the details don't ? What's with that ?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This is confirmed to fit the 15' WRX. The details do not specify that it fits anything, it only states that "2005-2009 Legacy GT & 2006-2008 Forester XT must use a 2006-2014 WRX flywheel for proper fitment.". Let us know if you are still confused, Thanks!

  • Q: Clutch ratings  fchammer15893123 years ago

My cars full stage 2 with a pro tune on it and it dyno'd at 310 ft/lbs max. Dont have any more big plans for it. Would this be ok when i need to replace my clutch?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This clutch is rated for 301 ft/lbs Tq. I would recommend looking into a clutch kit that is rated to handle your power output. Please feel free contacting us to discuss other clutch options!

  • Q: good for daily?  fromero544 years ago

I was wondering if this would be a good choice for an upgraded clutch on a daily? And also what fly wheel do you recommend for this?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This would be a good option for a daily driven car not exceeding the 301 Ft/Lbs at the Wheels rating, and as long as your stock flywheel can be resurfaced you can reuse it with this, or you can look into our Lightweight Flywheel options for your car. I personally like matching brands, so would recommend Exedy's Lightweight Flywheel with this clutch set.

  • Q: Torque Capacity  ericd4 years ago

Im running slightly over the capacity listed 325TQ how will this clutch do with these type of numbers? Hardly ever launch it.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This clutch is rated to handle up to 301 Ft/Lbs at the Wheels. With your 325TQ mark, This clutch should be fine. But, if you are 325 Ft\Lbs at the wheels. This clutch would not be ideal, and I would recommend a different option that is rated for higher TQ. To best assist you with your clutch, Please contact us for further assistance

  • Q: Clutch Recommendations  Matt_G4 years ago

I have a stock 2011 wrx that the clutch went out on, my plan is to take my car to stage 2 someday. Would this clutch work well for me on my stock daily driver wrx?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This clutch will be slightly more aggressive than stock but it is an excellent upgrade if you plan for more power in the future. This is an excellent clutch to compliment a Stage 2 build or even slightly higher power than that if needed.

  • Q: Clutch Confusion  dylanrawks4 years ago

Right now I have an ACT HD clutch with streetlight flywheel and it is not in good shape.. I'm going to be putting down around 340 tq this tuesday and I have a question. Many people run this clutch with high 3's tq and it does just fine for moderate beating street use, but it's only rated to 301. How is this possible? Are the tq figures stated more lenient than what I can see on your site? Should I go with a higher stage clutch? If this is not for me, do you carry anything for holding no more than 400whp that is a great DD? As mentioned, I've already given the ACT a chance; its crap on my car.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The pressure plate is only rated to support 301 WTQ. Many people running more torque will not experience slipping initially, but eventually will experience failure or slipping. I do not recommend pushing this clutch past the torque capacity. I recommend the Competition Clutch Stage 2 clutch for higher torque applications on a daily driver.

  • Q: Torque  Frank4 years ago

RSD, This clutch is rated for 301 ftlbs of torque at the wheels. What is the stock clutch for a WRX (09+) rated for? Thanks
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Its difficult to put a torque rating on the stock clutch because of the variety of driving conditions it can be subject to but this Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit is an upgrade over stock, having a higher torque capacity. Thank you.

    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This clutch is quite a bit more durable than the OEM clutch and in regards to Exedy's OEM replacement, it is pretty identical to the Subaru OEM.

  • Q: 2011 wrx clutch  wrxFTWdey5 years ago

Hi, I have a 2011 wrx stage 2 and my stock clutch is going out, this will be my 2nd stock clutch after owning my car for 2 years... even on proper launches, my clutch does not grab properly. i feather the clutch, never dump it, but it still slips and burns on launches. stock clutches were working great for a little bit, but after some heavy launching and driving, they always seem to go out. I daily drive my car, but my question is, do you recommend this stage 1 clutch or the exedy stage 2 clutch? i am trying my best to AVOID replacing the clutch. I have felt an exedy stage 2 on an 07 STI and it is quite an interesting feel. lol, would the stage 2 clutch outlast the stage 1? or will one just be more grippy? thanks.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  If you do drag racing/launching of the car it is suggested to get a multi disc clutch to better withstand the abuse and heat that is generated during this type of driving. A single disc clutch is not intended for this kind of abuse and will wear out quickly as a result.

  • Q: 2009 wrx  chriswanczyk741786 years ago

I have a 2009 wrx and currently have Cobb stage 2 with full exhaust, and the OEM clutch slips bad at 18 psi. I'm looking to get a lighter flywheel with a new clutch. Will this clutch be able to easily handle the power. And what if I was to do meth. Injection , would it still be able to handle well?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  If you are looking to increase power like that I would recommend a clutch capable of handling a bit more power. I would recommend the Heavy Duty version of this clutch, or even the Stage 2 if you plan to see much more power in the future.
