Features & Product Details

RallySport Direct is proud to provide you with the Exedy Heavy Duty Stage 1 Organic Disc Clutch Kit. This is a great clutch option for those of you looking for a quality OEM replacement that is strong enough to handle mild bolt-ons.

This is the preferred clutch for street and light horsepower track use. Drivability is similar to the stock clutch. Pedal efforts will be slightly higher because of the higher clamp loads that the pressure plate provides. All Exedy clutch discs have spring center dampers to reduce drivetrain shock.

The Heavy Duty clutch has a higher clamping load compared to the normal Stage 1 clutches.

Kit includes:

  • Clutch disc
  • Pressure plate
  • Throw out bearing
  • Pilot bearing
  • Alignment tool

I Love this clutch! Heavy Pedal! 2500 miles on clutch so far! 2 months ago

First 100 miles with clutch was an on off switch and hard to drive. Next 400 miles clutch broke in smoothly and slowly started feeling closer to stock engagement with a heavy pedal. This clutch does have a smaller engagement window and grips extremely hard compared to stock. Using this clutch on my 2008 SpecB paired with an oem sti fly wheel. Car made 455whp 428wtq with an FP green on E85. I've only done a few launches but at this power level I don't think it will last long. I'd looked for something more aggressive if you'll going to the drag strip.

At first I had a little bit of difficulty driving with this clutch. Right around 430ish miles I noticed it feeling much easier to drive with. I recommend this clutch for daily driving and if you plan on staying 400wtq or below. You just have to break it in some! As for the install, I went to my uncle's shop to do the install and it was easy to do with his lift. I'm not so sure I would not want to do any clutch work with just a jack and stands.

I have put 80,000 miles on this clutch. probably done around 20 launches, honestly letting friends drive it is what did the most damage. it is slipping now and my review is that it is a dope clutch. i will update after the rebuild

I love this clutch! I paired this clutch with a lightweight flywheel and I absolutely love it. Put around 10k miles on it so far and it still grabs just as hard as when I bought it. Nice firm feel to it, but not too firm to the point it's bothersome to drive whatsoever. It just feels so solid. Would highly recommend, I've launched my 04 STi plenty of times with no issues whatsoever.

    • Q: Upgrading to Dom 1.5XTR what flywheel?  MooMooWater5 months ago

Motor is being built right now and im upgrading to a Dom 1.5XTR and calling it a day. Not going to up the power anymore than that. This HD version should handle my TQ perfectly. What flywheel should i pair this with or should i just stick with my stock flywheel? Thanks!
      • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  I'd recommend pairing this with either your stock flywheel, or the Exedy if you want to go the lightweight flywheel route: https://www.rallysportdirect.com/part/flywheels/exe-ff501a-exedy-lightweight-flywheel

    • Q: HD or non HD??  What’s best?10 months ago

I have a 05 sti with stock engine but intake, down pipe, cat back system boosting around 19psi with a re tuned ecu, probably around 320hp and I’m planing to go up to around 380hp. Not shure about actual tq, my clutch is already slipping (24k miles).. Can’t decide if I should go for de HD or better Or non HD version. Any advise on what will suit better for me?
      • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This clutch kit wouldn't be a bad option. It will be a bit overkill and will have a stiff pedal, your calve will get a workout but definitely not a bad option!

    • Q: Torque Capacity  2016 STi11 months ago

You say this is rated for 472 lb/ft of torque at the wheels but are you sure? Excedy's website says 472 but it doesn't specify at the wheels and it seems most of their torque capacities are for the crankshaft and not the wheels. Thanks
    • Q: Clutch chatter  Rodgrick6711 year ago

Hey RSD I recently bought the clutch and I'm still in the break in period. But about how long is the break in period? It chatters real bad, and it doesn't seem like it's going away

Would the OEM fly wheel handle this clutch?
