Good, but missleading
sid 4 years ago
I just put this clutch in and I have 300km on it with no problems, although I expected a much stiffer pedal with this being stage 1, and rated 25ft/lbs more then stock. I believe when pressing the pedal it is softer then the stock clutch

Great clutch, watch out for the bearings
James614 4 years ago
I installed this about a month ago. When I got it back together, it felt like the throw out bearing was not engaging the pressure plate. We used a bore scope to verify the throw out bearing was in the pressure plate, but there was too much play for the clutch to disengage. Turned out the throw out bearing provided by Exedy was garbage and had a lot of excessive play when installed in the pressure plate. I stuck my 21 year old throw out bearing back on, and now it works flawlessly. The clutch kit itself is great, however I cannot fathom why Exedy would not be bothered to include a throwout bearing thats as good as their main components. My next purchase will come from ACT if thats how they do business.

Great clutch

I replaced the clutch in my 1992 Subaru legacy turbo and have zero complaints with this clutch. Also bought the Exedy lightweight flywheel. Its a great combination. Quiet, Smooth, and strong engagement. I dont have plans of making more than 278 ft/lbs of torque at the wheels so I know this clutch will last.

  • Q: Stock Vs. Stage 1 Vs. Stage 2  alexjohnson 2 years ago

    Answer

What are the main differences in feel between the clutches. I want something nice for daily driving while still durable enough to clutch-kick, launch, and play in the gravel. I have a stock 2002 wrx, also thinking of upgrading to a cobb stage 1 or 2 package and was wondering if i would need a certain clutch for that. Not too educated in car/autoparts lingo so the simpler the better. Thanks!!

    • A: Clutches are based on torque. Stock car= OEM torque. The higher stage the clutch, the more aggressive the drive will be and the more durable it will be. You could probably be ok with a Stage 1 clutch if you did some of the Cobb mods. However your transmission will be the weaker point as 5 speeds are somewhat fragile.

  • Q: Love it!  mvp1616262641 3 years ago

    Answer

Currently have about 4k miles on it and love if for daily use! But I do have a question. How much horsepower can this clutch safely handle? I'm thinking about a new turbo soon and want to know what the best one is that will get me around 350-400hp. Thanks!

    • A: This clutch is rated to handle 289 ft/lbs TQ at the wheels. Please contact us for more info on more clutch options.

  • Q: Difference  Silverrex 5 years ago

    Answer

What's the difference from this one and the heavy duty one?

    • A: The difference is the higher clamping load pressure plate which increases the tq capacity of the clutch on the HD kits

  • Q: release bearing/ flywheel  flanderjaggen13107 6 years ago

    Answer

does this clutch come with a release bearing? and also is it compatible with the exedy lightweight flywheel?

    • A: Yes indeed this kit includes the release bearing and it would work great paired with the Exedy flywheel. Both components are stock replacements as far as fitment so you can use the stock flywheel as well with this clutch. Thank you.

    • A: Pilot and release bearing are included. And it will work with the Exedy flywheel give the unit you have is OEM replacement spec.
