Q: Performance Sir Barton3 years ago
when spring hits I'll have around 475ftlbs of torque at wheels, I don't launch my car often but how well does this clutch handle launching because sometimes I'd like to see how it runs at drag strip, thank you
-
-
0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful
A: Clutch kits like this with organic discs will hold up to occasional launching, but segmented or puck style discs are recommended if you plan on launching the car. ACT rates their clutches for power at the flywheel, and if you will have 475 wtq, then a clutch kit with a higher power rating is recommended.

Hey if I switch from my exedy clutch to this act Do I need to switch my flywheel.

A: As long as you are using an STI sized flywheel it should work without a problem, but most manufacturers recommend you stick with their brand.

Q: Flywheel BooSTin5 years ago
Can you use the stock one or is it better to get a lightweight one
-
-
1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful
A: This clutch kit is compatible with the stock STI flywheel and which flywheel is best depends on personal preference. A lightweight flywheel will allow the engine to rev faster and the power that would be used to spin a heavier flywheel would then be transferred to the wheels. The only downsides to lightweight flywheels are you have to feather the clutch a bit more than usual when starting out and if you pair a very light flywheel with a lightweight crank pulley, then the check engine light can come on because the engine revs too quickly.

Q: any reccomendations itsasti5 years ago
I have a 2011 sti hatch and i daily drive it! But i also love to go offroading and race on the weekends! my stock clutch just went out and i am looking for a new one! any recommendations for somebody who is serious... but not track car serious

A: Clutches are like brake pads, the harder you use them the faster they wear out. With that being said, this ACT is a great unit to handle a bit more abuse then stock. However it will still wear out if you are constantly launching your car and putting lots of wear on your clutch. This clutch will last longer then stock, but how much longer depends on how hard you are on the clutch.
