  • Q: major difference between STi sts?  bst_lfe_sti4 years ago

I have a 2013 sti with the factory sts. I know this will change the height of the shifter but curious about the throws? The video didn't say if your sti had the sts or not. I'm doing my clutch next weekend and if this makes a substantial difference between the factory short throw then I'll probably buy it along with the bushings.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The factory short shifter reduces the throw by approximately 10% and this shifter reduces the throw by about 40%. This shifter will also lower the stock knob height by about 1 inch.

  • Q: Knob  zeus122376046025 years ago

Will the stock shift knob on an 05 STI work with this shifter? Thanks.
  • Q: Slop.  nedimiiedin5 years ago

I have a decent amount of slop with my stock shifter (2005 STi). It was never firm to begin with when I purchased it a year ago. I have installed pivot bushings, and the front/rear kartboy bushings, and it is still decently sloppy. If I were to purchase this shifter, should it theoretically remove all the slop that I currently have? Thanks!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Investing in the actual shifter should help alleviate some of the slop or at least help reduce the actual throw distance over the OEM shifter. Primarily speaking, replacing the bushings in the best solution for removing slop from the shifter, which you have already done. Have a nice day.

  • Q: 2009 Subaru Legacy GT Spec.B  Gmutter5 years ago

Wondering if this will work for the 6MT of a 2009 Spec B?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This shifter is not confirmed to fit on the 2009 Spec.B . I recommend looking at COB 224316 for a Spec.B short throw shifter! Thank you.

  • Q: bushings  tommyshibby6 years ago

If I get this shifter should I also get the kartboy shifter bushings combo set? Also is the length of the shifter adjustable?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The length of this unit is not adjustable. The bushings are optional although we do recommend replacing the factory rubber bushings since they can add some play over time in the shifter.

  • Q: As Pictured?  BB1LOVIN6 years ago

Does this Kartboy Short shifter come with the Pivot Bushings as pictured to fit my 2004 STi?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The pivot bushings included are for 08-14 STi only. They are NOT compatible with the 2004-2007 STi as you simply re-use the stock units.

  • Q: Wrx  Nick 2014 wrx6 years ago

Will this work with the 2014 wrx?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This would NOT. As this is the shifter for the 6spd STi transmission. The unit you will need is the KAR KB-001-LEG. Simply put that part number into the search window to see the product for your WRX.

  • Q: ?  jakerWRX6 years ago

witch shifter has a shorter throw? this one or the cobb?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  As the Cobb is adjustable it will offer the shortest throw, however you are limited with the Cobb on how short it can be due to Factory component interference.

  • Q: Will this work in combination with the upgraded, factory-installed STi short throw?  Sosubarume6 years ago

I have the upgraded, factory-installed STi STS, and the height is way too high. Will this STS work with the STi STS? I'm concerned there are additional linkages (beyond the reverse lockout) that may not allow this to be swapped.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This definitely will work in place of the factory short throw shifter. The installation is the same if you don't have the factory short throw. This Kartboy unit still makes a huge difference if you currently have the factory short throw shifter so I would highly recommend this upgrade either way.

  • Q: Bushings  Lars 9116 years ago

Some people write one has to change the bushings also to get the full effect. Are these bushings included? (the black ones on the pictures) Or are there other bushings which I should order?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  I believe the bushings most people are referring to are the front and rear shifter bushings. They are not included with this part number, but we do have them listed as a combo in the Short Shifter and Bushing Combos section. They are also listed separately in the Shifter Bushings menu.

  • Q: shifter boot  brenbren142911517 years ago

how does this shifter work with the 2011 sti shifter boot...does the boot look sloppy because it is an inch shorter?...how does the boot need to be modified to fit correctly
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This will work with the factory shifter boot. Even with the reduced shifter height, it still looks good. There is a little more fabric, but not to a point where it looks out of place. At the moment there are no recommended ways to modify the factory shifter boot.

  • Q: Reverse Lock Out  Mr_Smith7 years ago

Would this Sti short shifter fit a 2006 wrx 5sp MT? Reason is, I want the look of Sti shifter with a dummy reverse lock out but on my 5sp MT wrx.
  • Q: Reverse lockout  Barryb303686267 years ago

How does this work with the reverse lockout?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It works great. You can see in the picture that the upper half of the shifter is hollow and has a slot on each side at the top. This is setup just like factory so you can run the factory reverse lockout cable up through the shifter and run the roll pin through the shifter and through the cable to secure it.

  • Q: Rattle  Jlitch8 years ago

Just installed this part on a 2011 sti. Everything works great and excellent quality and huge reduction on the shift distance and feel. But there is a horrible rattle in 5th gear. It sounds like it is the reverse collar hitting the shifter neck. Is there a fix for this?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Double check to make sure that the cable is zip tied under the car correctly and not touching anything when its in that gear. From there make sure that the lock pin and all hardware is secured correctly.
