I have an '18 WRX STI that came with the STI Short Throw Shifter, will this fit and, if it does, how much of a difference will this make?

A: This would replace the STI shifter. This has the added benefit of being able to adjust shifter height, as well as throw.

A: COBB revamped their product line and changed all their short shifters to the black coating. Blue is identical but is no longer available.

Q: will this fit a 2012 Subaru Outback 6MT guest55c53c72caae52790b8faee89 years ago
I have a 2012 Subaru Outback ^ speed manual transmission. I know the 2010-14 outbacks and legacies use the same transmission, as does the 2010-12 subaru legacy 2.5GT all use the same transmission. Do you know if this will work in any of those cars?
-
-
0 of
0 people found the
following answer helpful
A: This would not work on those cars because those cars utilize a cable style shifter assembly where as the STi use a linkage style assembly.

Q: Tranny noise? SatinSubie10 years ago
Are bushings included with this? And what kind of tranny noise are you hearing?
-
-
0 of
0 people found the
following answer helpful
A: Front and rear shifter bushings are not included and the included pivot bushings are for use on late model 2007 cars and all 08+ STIs. Stiffer shifter bushings will transfer some drivetrain noise into the cabin.

Q: length randy11 years ago
since the cobb shifter is adjustable can you keep it about the same length as stock and also will it be taller in length than the kartboy shifter?I want a short throw but dont want the height to go away as the kartboy shifter i had in my wrx so what would you recommend?thanks!
-
-
0 of
0 people found the
following answer helpful
A: You cannot keep this the same height as stock but it is possible to get very close. This will put the knob height higher than the Kartboy unit. To reduce the throw and keep the knob height relatively close to stock this is the shifter you would want.

Q: Adjustable? D.T.11 years ago
Just for clarification, what exactly is the adjustment for? What does it do? Will installing new bushings have a greater difference? How so?
-
-
1 of
1 people found the
following answer helpful
A: The length of the throw and the height of the knob can be adjusted with this shifter and the throw length affects how far you need to move the shifter between gears. New bushings will provide more feedback and the shifter movements will feel more precise.

Q: Cobb vs. SPT Short Throw Shifters seabass00711 years ago
What's the difference between the Cobb and the SPT shifters? I have the SPT shifter and it never really felt like a short throw shifter.
-
-
1 of
1 people found the
following answer helpful
A: The SPT shifter maybe reduces the throw over stock about 5%, it is a really insignificant amount of change that personally I can't tell a difference compared to stock. The Cobb is going to have the ability to change the throw by 40% which is a huge difference over stock and the SPT.
