If I was to purchase this shifter is there anything else I would need to purchase to make it fit/work?

A:  You do not need to buy anything else to make this work, you would just reuse stock hardware!

  • Q: Wide or narrow barrel?  myersnathan24536 months ago

I have a 2004 wrx 5spd and I'm wondering which shifter will fit my car? And also what's the difference between the reg wide barrel and the tall barrel?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This particular short throw shifter is adjustable throw wise, as well as height wise. With the knob height, you can adjust it from 1” higher than stock, to 1“lower than stock. This is for cars with the factory shifter. You can tell if your car has the factory shifter by pulling down your factory shift boot, and looking at the color of the lever. If it is gold zinc plated lever, then you have the STI option installed. If it is a dark gray, then it is the stock assembly.

  • Q: Short throw from different model year.  laextreme5885283 years ago

I have the cobb adjustable from my 2012 that i am parting out, is there a way to make it fit in my 05 wrx. Looking at the pictures between the two for each different model i dont really see a difference. If there is a small difference is it possible to use it from my 2012?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The easiest way to find out confirmed fitments. Is by looking at the bottom left hand side of the product page. It will telly you what vehicles each part number is confirmed for. Most likely the short shifter on your 2012 will not fit on a 2005 wrx.

  • Q: vertical shifter  sprint200mm830024 years ago

This shifter is straight up and down compared to the stock one. How does it affect hand placement? Am i going to be shifting closer to my console, farther, or the same distance?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It should be about the same difference to the front of your console, but it may sit just a little closer to the center console.

A:  When adjusted to the shortest throw, it will place the shifter further back (closer to center console).

  • Q: Stock 05 wrx wagon  tjr41156 years ago

I was wondering if I would have to buy anything else with this short throw like Cobb bushings or anything else? Would it just fit without any other parts? What should I do if I buy this?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The bushings are not required for installation of this short shifter and it is a direct factory replacement so no other parts are needed. Please ensure that you double check whether you have the factory short throw shifter or not. Based on this you may need to use the other Cobb short shifter part number: 211315.

  • Q: Stock Shift Knob  fenton.dn305526 years ago

I actually like the leather wrapped shift knob in my '05 wrx. Can I use it with this short throw shifter?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Hello, You definitely can reuse your factory shift knob if you'd like. The shaft is threaded to match the factory knob or basically any aftermarket M12x1.25 threaded knob.

  • Q: Whats the difference?  ahcastro6 years ago

Whats the difference between this SS and the Factory/SPT short shifter? My buddy has the factory short throw in his 2011 and I love it! I was considering getting the factory/SPT short throw but its almost double the price....but why? And whats the difference between this and the other COBB short throw that says for factory SS and why is it the same price? Will aftermarket shifter bushings that I use for my current shifter work with these? Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to clarify as I have been confused over this for awhile :). I love cobb products and will buy! Well as long as it is what i think it is
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  SPT sells you the entire shifter linkage assembly. Where in all reality you just need the shifter itself and not the linkage. The Cobb is a fully adjustable unit that you can change your own shifter height and throw. Shifter bushings will have no effect on the Cobb shifter.

A:  The main difference between the Cobb SS vs SPT SS is that the Cobb SS is adjustable where as the SPT and many other SS are not adjustable. This will allow for a more custom feel to appeal to different drivers. This will also work with most aftermarket shifter bushing like the Cobb or Kartboy shifter bushings upgrades.
