This shift plate is a must have item for any 4th gen Outback equipped with the cable-shift 6speed. Makes these cars so much more enjoyable to drive. Pretty easy install if you have the right tools and some patience. Compared to the other short shift plates I have seen on the market, this one appears the best engineered out of all of them, feels like how it would have (and should have) came from the factory. Make sure to pair this with the Kartboy shift cable bearing to get the best shifter feel.

Putting it shortly, It's a great upgrade, but do not underestimate the install. I got this part because you can re-install the heat shield unlike the Boomba shift plate. Long version: If you live in a place where it snows & the roads get salted, you will have a hard time. The stock shift plate rust-welded itself onto the pivot pin, and the entire install took 5 stressful hours to complete. If you work on your car outside, you'll be doing this for hours. This applies for ANY shift plate, not just this one. Be prepared, maybe even take it to a shop. I wouldn't advise doing this if you're just starting out. It's a very solid upgrade, but I don't think it was worth the stress it put me through.
