  • Q: 2015 WRX STI  MIke WRX STI 153 years ago

I seen the air box is it needed with this? If so whats the pros and cons? For the AP do i need to constantly have it in or can i just flash the map and remove? Thanks
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The airbox is not required but the airbox does help shield the intake from the heat of the engine bay as well as debris. The Accessport maps can be flashed on your ECU then the tool removed.

I removed the stock air intake and there was another hose connected to that was the cabin air filter I think. Will I need to plug this hose up or just leave it as is
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  That is the symposer, it can be removed from the vehicle and plugged or just left open. COBB has updated instructions for the 2015 models in the link below. https://cobb.app.box.com/715315instructions

  • Q: Intake and AP  13WRX_FTW3 years ago

I'm going to be purchasing The cobb sf intake system as well as the cobb AP. My questions is, What do I do first? install the intake then hookup the ap or hookup the ap and download the maps then do the intake.
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You can install the Accessport as soon as you like, but when you install the intake you will need to flash the Intake map for the vehicle to run properly.

  • Q: Hello! 2 Questions!  steelie4 years ago

    1. What is the power difference of the short ram intake vs cold air with a tune? 2. I have the q300 exhaust, will the access port have a stage 1 tune good for these two upgrade? Thanks for the help!
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Naturally, you will yield a little more power with the cold air intake due to the lower intake temperature. Cobb does have Off The Shelf maps supporting both the Cobb SF intake and the AEM cold air intake, available for free on cobbtuning.com

  • Q: more power  FreakingquickWRX4 years ago

i'm running a stage 2 turbo back with COBB V3 turner but factory air intake. will this with the COBB air box give me more HP or about the same? And how much more noise does it make?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It will give you some additional power, although not a substantial amount. This intake is quite a bit louder than stock.

  • Q: Tuning  Oriolestj244 years ago

I've read multiple comments saying it needs a tune and doesn't need a tune. I don't own an accessport. Will this intake require a tune?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  We recommend a tune for all intakes with these cars. The accessport comes with a tune for this intake.

will this intake fit into the factory air box or only the one made by cobb?

  • Q: Could you use a different filter.  jerseyborn201415285 years ago

I plan on going with a Black/Red style. Can i swap the filter for another one the same style but in red?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Cobb does not offer any other filters for this intake at this time and we don't have any experience with using a different brand filter. The filter size is somewhat unique and we have not found any other filters that would fit.

  • Q: @daveinnorcal used perrin fmic with cobb intake  randy5 years ago

Dave if i read your post right you said you used the perrin fmic with this intake? what can i expect for how it will all fit and were you able to keep the box or will that not work? appreciate if you can reply daveinnorcal.thanks
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Unfortunately we do not have a confirmation if this will fit with the Perrin front mount, but it appears DaveInNorcal was able to make it work with slight modification. I don't imagine the airbox would be able to fit since it would get in the way of the boost tube piping.

  • Q: airbox?  Dan Harper5 years ago

What is the purpose of using the airbox vs not using one?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The C.A.R.B. certified (2010+ pending) SF Air Box adds the benefits of a cold air intake to the outstanding performance of the SF Intake. The factory inlet directs cold air from the front grill to the SF Airbox, which encloses the SF Intake. Hot engine bay air that robs horsepower is prevented from entering the intake system to provide consistent intake performance. This unique design also separates rainwater from the intake air, eliminating the water ingestion issues that plague in-fender cold air intakes.

  • Q: air tempeture  alfredoouugh199945 years ago

i live in the bay area. so i dont relly worry about heat. its always cool here and no hotter then 80 degrees here, and i mainly drive it at night, which is when i take my car out to play. and we get a little wet weather here randomly in the winter. is the box neccecery if it doesnt even get hot here? also this isnt my daily driver (i have a work truck). is it ok to buy this without the box?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The box is not necessary, it is completely optional, it will for sure help out even in your temperatures with keeping the engine heat away. But it is not needed you are okay to purchase without the box.

  • Q: cold air or short ram???  Steelman876 years ago

I've been thinking about getting a intake. I don't know which would be better to go with. I live in the PNW, so we get a lot of wet weather. Some of my friends that are mods say it's almost pointless to get a cold air intake because of all the water. Any suggestions or tips. Thinking about this intake or injens cold air. Much appreciated.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  If you live in a area with allot of precipitation a short ram intake is the best way to go, to help avoid the chance sucking up water. What I would suggest to get the best benefits is to get this intake along with Cobb Tuning airbox COB 724150. This will ensure that you are getting cold air to the intake with out any of the downsides of a short ram system.

  • Q: Tune  The_Makins6 years ago

still kind of wondering why a tune is strongly advised ive heard its not needed and ive also heard i have to get a tune i havent installed it yet because i havent gotten my access port yet, but what would happen if i install with no tune will it throw my A/F ratio out of wack???
    • 2 of 2 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The A/F ratios from the stock tune are already very dangerous with a stock intake. If you did any aftermarket intake, the AFR's would be so bad that detonation and high EGT's will start effecting the motors reliability and longevity.

  • Q: Install Question  jorgelara866 years ago

I bought the SF Intake as well as the AP. When I install them, is the only thing left to do, to download the Stage 2 map (I'll be installing the DP ((catted)) as well), and then let the AP do the rest of the work? Or are there other steps to calibrating the MAF sensor?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  That is correct, if you are installing this with the aftermarket downpipe, you would want to use the Stage 2 + SF intake map on the Accessport, and that will be all you need. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks.

would there be any difference in quality or sound if i got either kind of tune?would there be problems if i got a custom tune with a cobb?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  No change in sound if you ran it with or wihtout a tune. A tune however is HIGHLY recommended, either a pro-tune or a AccessPort tune

Will this fit my FXT2009? Another Novice question. Do I need to purchase an Accessport to Tuneup after installing the intake?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  As per the confirmed applications list, this intake will fit on the 2009 Forester XT. Tuning is required once this intake is installed. We do recommend the Accessport for this tuning!
