  • Q: Perrin inlet  rdsxfan1991032154 years ago

Do you guys happen to know if these intakes work with the perrin turbo inlet?
  • Q: knocking  chrismoore64 years ago

I have heard if you install this without a pro tune u will hear knocking is that correct or can I just do a stage 1 tune with the Cobb access port. It will be going on a 2015 sti.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It is very much recommended that you get a tune or use the access port for the use of this intake or any other. I have never heard of people hearing knocking when using an intake, that sounds like a deeper problem. We recommend a tune/access port because without one your car will suck in too much air and run lean which is very bad.

Can i still use Cobb's Stage 1 + intake map if i dont use the air box in conjunction with this intake?

Put one of these into my 2013 Subaru Sti and my check engine light came on after a few mile . My car only has 900 mile on it . Y would that happen ?????
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Tuning is required for this item, if you have not loaded the Stage 1 tune from COBB through your Accessport you will run into a check engine light issue.

  • Q: fmic  jdmcglynn94463926 years ago

is it possible to fit this intake while running a fmic? if not then what intake do you guys recommend? thanks
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  More than likely you will be able to fit both with no issues, but that really comes down to the front mount setup you use. The COBB Short Ram Intake has fit with other front mount setups in the past but it is best to do your research on the specific products you are looking at before purchasing.

  • Q: Hiccups  jpdollins190316 years ago

I've put air intakes on cars before and it always screws up the sensor somehow and I end up having to take it to a shop and getting a sensor fixed. So everyone has just put it on and drived away with no hiccups with it?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This intake requires tuning with either an AccessPort or a custom tune. If you install this without a tune you will more than likely run into issues with the drive-ability and performance.

  • Q: Tuning?  casebeer6 years ago

Can I use the accessport to tune my car after installing the intake? or does it need to be by a professional?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Yes you can use your AccessPort to tune for this intake. Cobb actually has a map specific to this intake system that you can download for free and install on your AccessPort to properly run this system.

  • Q: .  juangaSTI7 years ago

HOW MANY HP CAN THIS INTAKE INCREASE?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The power increase from the intake is strictly based off what dyno, supporting mods, altitude, fuel and tuning. Due to so many variables Cobb Tuning does not publish power ratings for the system.

  • Q: Sound Change  10Dub7 years ago

How is this going to change the sound of my car?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  By changing out the intake system on your vehicle you will be able to hear more of the air being sucked into the intake. You will also be able to hear more of the blow off valve if you are running a recirculating valve.

  • Q: Tune  ultimateshotta7 years ago

Can I use this without tuning without issues? If there are issues can you give me an example? Its more of a cosmetic upgrade for me. I want the added sounds more than I need performance. The performance gain is just a bonus.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  No unfortunately not, due to the sensitivity of the MAF sensors on the 08+ models, so a tune will be required to run any aftermarket intake. But with a tune, you will not only see substantially more power, but also better fuel economy and a more reliable car.

  • Q: Need to be flshed  WRX827 years ago

Do i need to flash my car with the cobb software before installing the intake or can it be installed with my car being flashed?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The 08+ cars are very sensitive to air flow changes and COBB says a retune is required for this intake when installed. If you try this intake without a proper tune there could be real potential issues. COBB has an OTS map for the AccessPort when using this intake, so that is what we recommend. Thanks.
