Cobb Tuning SF Air Intake Box Instock  QTY (1)

Features & Product Details

When it comes to aftermarket intake systems, the Cobb Tuning SF Intake has been the popular choice among car enthusiasts worldwide. Here you have a product made with superior fabrication that will add horsepower, torque, and improve overall performance.

The factory intake system is a fairly restrictive design that only allows the turbo to breathe so much air which jails a lot of performance. The Cobb Tuning SF Intake will allow the turbo to inhale a substantial amount of air compared to the factory system. The airbox is designed to replace the factory airbox to protect the intake from warm engine components, and protect the intake from getting a heated intake charge.

Best of all the Cobb Tuning SF Intake is C.A.R.B. certified, making this intake approved to use by strict C.A.R.B. standards.

If you don't have this intake on your subie, then get it! You won't be disappointed. Sounds so sexy and wakes up your stock bpv.

Cobb tuner, Cobb shirt ram intake, invidia cat back 2 years ago
5out of 5stars

I was very happy with all of my products, people from chat where absolutely great when I had questions about the exhaust system to make sure it was one I wanted. I wanted a louder exhaust, but not too loud because I do drive with my two young kids in the car a lot. So wanted something fairly quite at idle and low RPMs for cruising but let the boxer sound amazing at "fun" RPM range. Then the short ram sounds absolutely great with the turbo spool noise and ordered the HKS BOV a few months back. And Cobb tuner is so easy to install and download different tunes if you do not want the preinstalled tunes that come with it. Everything went together very smooth for install, took about 2 hours to install everything without a hoist and just laying under the car on stands. Thank you for all your help and being an amazing car enthusiast for Subaru fans around the world make the already fun Subaru even more fun to drive.

I. freaking. love. this. 2 years ago

Cons: Loud, and you will most definitely be hearing your engine breathing, and the BPV will be fully audible with any shift where you have any amount of boost... Also, your IATs will be higher than the OEM intake while you are in traffic. I recorded up to a 75 degree difference while stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. Now...on to the Pros! Fairly easy to install. Absolutely love the huffing and puffing that I can make my car do now. Mash the pedal, and you hear the angry snake hissing at you! I decided to Gold Foil wrap the box, in the interest of lowering IATs. I also installed a Turbo Blanket around the same time, and noted that I can achieve as little as 5 degrees above ambient while on the highway. Pain points during the install (2006 STi) were: *the intake mount needs a good bit of patience. this is the mount that bolt to the bottom, and then you screw it on the "lip" of the Plastic intake. decent bit of trial and error, since you're doing this after the box is already in the car. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but hope you have "small hands" lol as that makes the job easier *for the GDs at least, they aren't kidding when they tell you to uninstall the Air duct snorkus and TRIM OFF THE LIP. If you don't do it, it will most likely end up rubbing and CUTTING the intake filter you just bought! ARGH! no matter, just another bit of time to do this right--the first time. For those who don't work too much on cars yourself--this still is pretty darn easy to install. My biggest concern was losing coolant while replacing the coolant lines. if you've got a towel, and get the new coolant lines queued up and ready to swap really shouldn't lose much coolant at all where you'll be concerned to burp your cooling system.

Takes a bit to install right, but looks great! 2 years ago

I was not going to replace the bottom of the stock air box for the third time on my 07 WRX. The heat cycles on the airbox, combined with the use of a K&N were just too much for the lower tabs to bear. I decided to upgrade in order to never have to deal with that ridiculous box again. Quality of the kit is high. Nice annodize on the top plate, with stainless steel fasteners all-round. Good quality coolant hoses too. There were no instructions in the box, so I had to consult Cobb's web site. Once everything was removed, installation was fairly simple using basic hand tools. Trimming the intake resonator to keep it from interfering with the Cobb filter was unexpected. A few seconds with a Dremel fixed that. The coolant hose clamps that you need to reuse from the stock box broke, so be careful on removal. If you have a lot of miles on the car, they are BRITTLE! Cobb did not include new hose clamps for the coolant lines. The stock ones will not fit over the larger line. Luckily, I had some spare hose clamps in the garage. Also, The filter that came with my kit was white, not blue, as pictured. I was not sure it had been oiled after close inspection, so I gave it a quick spray with my K&N oil and wiped the excess, just in case. Once in there, it did take some fiddling to get all the mounting screws for the top plate in. Be prepared to assemble and disassemble various parts of the kit a few times to get everything to line up just right. Once installed... it's a super clean look. There is some increased intake noise, which I like. As an aside, your MAF is now INSIDE the airbox, on the intake pipe. You'll need to remove the 5-6 screws on the top plate every time you want to clean it. Overall, I don't think you'll see any power gains over the stock box if you're running a mild tune. However, this is a nice upgrade over the junky stock airbox, and it prepares your intake for future upgrades to the engine.

I already have a new post-maf hose on my car (not cobb brand) so do I have to buy the cobb post-maf hose to install this properly or will mine be fine?

Does this product need a intake duct? Similar to Oem intake duct?
  • Q: Reflash time?  Jbreezy1 year ago

I have my stock air box and intake on my 03 wrx. I already have my car flashed with my accessport to stage 2. If I buy this Cobb sf intake will I need to reflash my map? The map I’m currently running says it works with a stock intake and Cobb sf intake.
    • 0 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  That is correct, for a 2003 WRX, the stage 2 map will be correct for this intake and an otherwise stage 2 vehicle.
