This new linkage eliminates much of the side to side slop that develops in the lever due to the stock bushings wearing out. The 1998-2005 cars have linkage that is riveted together preventing the replacing of the bushings.
Along with the new linkage you get the TIC bushings pre-installed meaning your shifter will be tighter and the bushings will last longer.

After installing this along with kartboy front and rear shifter bushing I had zero play in my shifter. Great quality and took about 2 1/2 hours to install. Make sure the shifter linkage is on the right way before tightening everything up. Highly recomended.

Had a lot of rubber in my shifts and this has made it feel crisp again.

Bought this to fix the sloppy shifter in my '03 Baja. Whole project took about 4 hrs and had minimal difficulty. Shifter now has very little slop and feels much tighter. Highly recommended.

I actually bought this as a fix to my worn shifter, and not as an upgrade, so my option might be a little biased, but the difference is amazing! The shift changes feel like the car is brand new, even though it is 10 years old. Highly recommended if you have a shaky or worn shifter linkage.

I installed this product on my 02 wrx, I was suffering severely from shift shaft. i had already installed Kartboy rear shifter bushing and Cobb shifter bushings (the big round ones on the forward portion of the shifter stay). This eliminated near all of the play in my shifter. It was a pain to remove the stock part from the shift fork on the gearbox since i did the install with the gearbox still on the car, but it was definitely worth it. No complaints
Q: Compatiblility with JDM models kandcwheel42069 4 years agoAnswer
Is this product compatible with the JDM '99 WRX STI wagon?
A: I believe this linkage is compatible with JDM vehicles, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee fitment with cars outside the USA.

A: My JDM STI v6 5MT still uses the external spring return (that requires the eyelet on the linkage) so the late 90s JDM 5MT might not be compatible with this. Unless you cut and weld the eyelet onto it, which I was considering.

Q: Side to side movement. imalittleslow 5 years agoAnswer
I currently have a lot of side to side play in just about all gears. Im getting a Kartboy short throw with bushings and was wondering if this would help to eliminate that play? Like buy them together?
A: This shift linkage will definitely help to eliminate the slop in your shifter. If you install these with the Kartboy bushings you should not have any play in the shifter.

Q: Bushings XavierRage 5 years agoAnswer
Can the bushings be bought separately, since they are the primary difference when using a factory short shifter?
A: Unfortunately that is not something that TurnInConcepts offers at this time.

Q: Factory Short Shift Option XavierRage 5 years agoAnswer
Is this part still necessary if I've upgraded my 2005 WRX to the factory SPT/STi short shifter?
A: This part is not necessary, but will still be an upgrade because the bushings are a harder material than the OEM bushings.
