Worth the Work

The install went pretty smooth, the hardest part is getting the old front bushing out. It is a single piece so it was next to impossible to get out. The rest was easy and worth the struggle. Great feel.

Solid addition to the Kartboy short shifter
Jesse 3 months ago
the front bushing was easy to install but the rear took me foreverrrrrr. I have big hands so it was hard for me to get to the rear shifter bushing. Advice: if one side of the rear bushing goes on easy and the other is hard, start with the hard side then move to the easier side - if that makes sense.. Performance for the price was on par. I would say the short throw shifter makes the biggest difference in shifting feel. These bushings add some "snappyness" to the equation.

Amazing

I have never installed this part when I have changed out my shifter, and wow what a difference it has made. Feels amazing and install really wasn't all that bad!

Worth the upgrade

Installed as a set, list following: STI Group N Right Side Engine Mount STI Group N Left Side Engine Mount STI Transmission Mount Whiteline Drivetrain Bushing Kit (Rear Differential, Transmission Crossmember & Rear subframe bushings) Kartboy Shifter Bushing Combo Installed all of the above listed items at one time, made the car much more responsive and makes the car feel more grounded. Shifting is much tighter and more sensitive. Moderate noise increase at all times but nothing that makes the car un-drivable as a daily driver.

Rear bushing impossible to install
Rexracer 8 months ago
The front bushing was hard to install. It wasn't the Kartboy part that was the problem it was getting out the OEM that was very difficult to pry out. BUT that was the easy part, The rear OEM bushing came out easily. Then putting in the Kartboy rear was impossible. I tried out putting in one screw then leveraging in the second but it was impossible to align. Then I read about heating up the bushing to get some stretch. Out came the heat gun and heated until the bushing was quite warmed up all the way through, still no luck. After 3 hours reaching into uncomfortable places over my head, I finally screamed the last obscenity and gave up. 3 min and the OEM went back in and I gave up. The front is nice to have in but.....

    Answer

I would like to know which of the three (Perrin, Cobb, Kartboy) bushings have the hardest material. Thanks.

    • A: All three brands will have a similar durometer. Exact measurements are not given.

  • Q: Fitment Question  mitchellkid 1 year ago

    Answer

I was trying to install the rear bushing and ran into an issue. When I lined the bolt holes up, I couldn't get the shifter linked up. And when I lined up the shifter, I couldn't get the bolt holes lined up. Am I just a dummy or is there a trick to it? I currently have the Kartboy short shifter installed.

    • A: We recommend lubricating the rear bushing so the linkage will be able to slide a little bit, and that should allow you to line both up at the same time. Also make sure the rear bushing is being installed so that the front of the bushing is nearly vertical (correct side up).

    • A: These bushings will work with the stock shifter, factory short throw shifter and any aftermarket shifter that uses the stock shift bushings.
