This clutch is awesome. Drastic difference from my exedy stage one that couldn’t hold my power. My tuner recommended this clutch and I pulled the trigger. Installed myself since I’ve done it before. Grips nicely and very responsive. Doesn’t chatter and isn’t crazy touchy like a 6 puck/unsparing clutch. Anyone not trying to go over 420whp, it is a little pricey considering it doesn’t come with an upgraded light weight flywheel but I would still recommend it. I already had an upgraded 14lb flywheel so I didn’t mind.
I had been reading reviews for months on so many different clutches from OEM to ACT to Exedy and so on for my 2013 WRX. I went stage 2 about 6 months ago and was about to hit 70k miles and knew it was time to upgrade. I decided on the ACT HDSS . Wow, am I glad I did. The clutch pedal is snappy, the clutch is nice and grabby, it's like a brand new car. I'm only into it about 200 miles, so it hasn't even settled yet and its awesome. I have a slight 'chatter' in first gear but it's nice and smooth through the other 4. I'm really happy with my new ACT clutch and highly suggest it ... stop reading so many reviews and just pull the trigger on this clutch already. GP
While the car at the moment is in a break in map(reduced throttle response, and lowered boost), the engagement had moved slightly up of the pedal. However, when it does engage, it does in a aggressive manner compared to stock clutch. I only have about 100 miles on the clutch, but i can already tell this clutch is a beast with more of a on/off personality. Even with the reduced throttle mapping on downshifts i only have to tap the throttle to get it to the right rpm. I have even over shot the downshift rpms by accident...cant imagine after its fully tuned. Slight chatter on in gear decceleration, but gives it a nice “race car” sound to it combined with the sti transmission/motor/pitchstop mounts. Will report after break in period and once fully tuned. So far, its a beast of a clutch with slightly higher engagement. I like!
I don't have much to say about this. Very happy with how it came, packaged great everything was there and everything was correct. Install was easy and everything worked right. It is a good clutch for the money (I guess). It worked great while it lasted. My car made 326hp/342tq on the dyno (from a reputable tuner on the east coast) with a new intercooler. Fast forward 8000 miles and my clutch is already slipping. Needless to say I was unimpressed.
It couldn't handle the horse torques but that is wheel torque so I did go over its rating after about 2 weeks of driving with that power it now slips under boost I guess I expected it though

Q: 2012 subaru impreza wrx jb3 years ago
does this part fit my 2012 Subaru impreza wrx? Acts website says it doesn't but yours does i don't know why it wouldn't because it fits the 2011 model and there shouldn't be a big difference between the two.

A: Yeah it will fit your 12, not sure why that MY is skipped on ACT's site, but it will fit your car for sure. Thanks.

Q: Loud TOB ckbeep4 years ago
Have used 2 of these kits on 06 wrx. Act clutch, act LW flywheel. Both have had noisy throw out bearing that does not go away unless apply slight pressure to clutch pedal. Happens with less than 100 miles put on clutches. I have researched and this is a common problem, have seen few remedies but seems like fixing the noise not the problem temporarily. Any advice on how to fix. Have read adjusting the preload on clutch pedal. But heard differing views. Says can wear out bearing. Also, read about greasing clutch fork and slave cylinder where pin meets.
