Don’t waste your money, hoses won’t fit, extremely hard to mount since there’s no space and the worst part is it won’t even work properly. I took my crankcase metal hose that’s bolted to the TMIC and it was nasty filled with gunk. And they don’t even offer warranty. If I could give this review zero stars I would have. Horrible product
First off this review is directed at the product not RSD. I have had nothing but positive experiences when ordering from RSD. Attempted to install this AOS on my 09 Wrx yesterday. Following the instructions from Crawfords website (08-14 Wrx/07-13 Forester XT) right away I had fitment issues. Mounting the canister proved to be a huge challenge as the main engine harness prevents the bracket from sitting flush with the mounting spot. With a little finesse and some uncomfortable pulling on the harness I managed to make it work. Next, I begin to tap into the PCV system when I realize that the setup on the car in the instructions is different from the PCV setup on my car. I tried to improvise but no matter what I do I'm left with an uncapped hose from the block (originally to the PCV) and an opening from the elbow that attaches to the white sensor. Looking through Crawfords website I found a different set of instructions (08-14 wrx/08+STi) that showed the install from an STi that has a similar PCV setup as my car. Ok cool, back on track. I begin to route my lines when I come to the last line ( from the line under the intake manifold to port #4 on the canister) and find another fitment issue. This line, no matter how I try to route it will not fit to the #4 port. The port from the canister is in between the turbo flange and the manifold with the engine harness and coolant lines running through the same area. Squeezing a 1/2" hose they provide through this area wasn't a great idea and I actually wound up snapping the plastic nipple off of the expansion tank trying to pull the line on to the port. Now the car sits until I can replace the expansion tank and go get some custom tubing and fittings from the hardware store. If I could return this item I would but that would mean uninstalling everything and starting over with a different AOS. At this point I'm going to finish this install using my own set up for the port #4 line. I have no doubt that once installed the AOS will do its job but for $340 I wish Crawford would have put a littler more R&D into the fitment (for the 09 wrx, anyway).
The V3 is super easy to install, quality is top notch, they even give you rubber O rings to hold the bolt to the bracket while your screwing them in. That’s attention to detail, love that it retains the PCV system. I have had it on my car for about 2700 miles now and I have noticed so far no oil consumption. No coolant lines to mess with is great too. I recommend the AOS to anyone looking for easy Install, works and doesn’t cost a small fortune to buy!
Installed on a 2012 WRX. The install of this leaves a lot to be desired. First off, fitment of the AOS itself is TIGHT. Its a good thing the mounting bracket is flexible. Second, you might as well order your own METRIC hoses to save some frustration. The 1/2 and 3/8 inch ID hoses supplied are very difficult to fit onto the 13mm and 10mm barb fittings. Lastly, the instructions from their website are... adequate, but could use some improvement. I have no doubt that it will function and do what its designed to do, but for the price point, im pretty disappointed. Its pretty clear that not much time was spent with the fitment, at least for a WRX.
I have a Crawford V3 AOS for my STI and it's not doing it's job at the track. I lose about a liter or so after each track session. My ringlands are fine. This oil loss ONLY occurs at the track and I know why. Because of the way the boxer engine is designed, under high-g turns your oil is going to get pushed to the sides, into the heads, and get sucked up through the valve cover vents which are connected to the turbo inlet. I looked at how Porsches handle this problem and their boxer engines come with an AOS stock. If the Porsche AOS breaks they get massive oil consumption and smoke coming out of the exhaust. Anyways back to our boxers: take a look at the black Y pipe next to the TMIC. If you follow the plumbing you will see the two valve cover tubes on either side combine via the metal Y pipe and connect to the turbo inlet. The turbo inlet is always going to be under vacuum so any oil that makes it to the valve cover vents will get sucked up into the turbo, through the intercooler, and into the engine. We all know that is bad. Before the Crawford AOS I had an oil catch can plumbed between the valve cover breathers and the turbo inlet. This thing filled up after every track session. I thought the V3 AOS would fix this and I wouldn't have to worry about draining and emptying the catch can anymore. I was wrong. The way the V3 AOS is plumbed it does not even touch the valve cover vents. It only handles the PCV valve system in the middle of the engine. Furthermore, the Crawford AOS is designed more like 2 catch cans stacked on top of one another that don't even have a drain. The lower barb in each chamber functions as a 'drain'. On the V3 AOS there is no separate path for the oil to drain out of like other AOS systems on the market. This might catch oil mist in the PCV system but does NOTHING for the most of the oil that will come out of the valve cover vents. I wonder why Crawford is now a former vendor on NASIOC. 🤔🤔🤔

I am thinking of buying a V3 for my 2015 WRX. I live in Canada where it gets very cold in the winter. Will I have any issues in very cold temps with the V3?

A: From my understanding, it's not advisable to run an AOS that is not heated by the engine coolant in prolonged sub-freezing temperatures. This Crawford unit does not have a coolant line, which does make for a much simpler install, but it help reduce moisture and freezing.

Is the Crawford V3 AOS not universal? I'm needing to install an AOS. From my understanding, the V2 requires coolant lines to be plumbed to allow for heat transfer. Will the V3 fit an 08 Outback XT Limited?

What would be the difference installing this kit with a FMIC (Mishimoto) on a 2011 STI

A: The main difference between this kit and the FMIC kit would be the mounting bracket. The hoses are most likely different lengths as well.

A: Most FMIC piping routes thru the area where this canister is mounted. We recommend our V2 kits for the widest fitment options available at this time.

A: You can mount it on the old top mount bracket on passenger side giving you enough room to route you fmic piping without having clearance issues.
