Are there any figures about expected pressure drop for the oil for this unit?

A: This is from CSF: "This oil cooler results in a significant pressure drop of approximately 30psi compared to using no oil cooler and approximately 20-25psi compared to using a traditional air-to-air oil cooler. "

Q: oil cooler and header compatibility Michav7172 years ago
The oil cooler portion of this does not work with my Tomei unequal length headers I purchased from you guys and on my 05 STI. It sits too close and there is no room for the lines. Have you guys Heard of this issue before?

A: When Rick installed this on an employees car, he did need to do some routing of the cooler lines to clear the headers.

Q: Better than a separate combo of radiators? Gerard3 years ago
i use my '11 STI as a second car so i track it sometimes per year and some mountain runs. My question is that this radiator with the oil cooler incorporate would get better coolant temps than a combo of a cooling radiator and an oil cooler (by separate)?
-
-

following answer helpful
A: Fantastic question, and this is something that I think everyone should know, or at least be aware of. When it comes to oil temps, it's not always about getting the oil as cool as possible, it's about maintaining a stable oil temp. Now with a dedicated external cooler, you can keep your oil temps cooler for sure, and you usually have a thermostat to help regulate the temps, but to truly get the most out of an external cooler, you would want to delete your factory liquid to liquid oil cooler. Now with this CSF radiator, you get the advantage of having a massive heat reserve, and on the same side, a massive heat exchanger. The advantage of this is that you get ultra stable oil temps, and you can dial in the oil weight(and engine build if you really wanna get nerdy) to suit those temps. I would say for 99% of people, this is the best route to go. My ONLY complaint with it is the routing of the lines, as it's all near the manifold. And if you have the time, get the rad and the oil plate fitted up, and map out your line placement, and then order the correct fittings, adapters, lines, and heat sleeves. When I installed one on one of the employee cars I figured I would just use what we had on hand, and while I made it work, I wish I had planned on the extra time to map it all out and get additional fittings. I made it work just fine, but I don't really like "just make it work" lol. Hope this helps, and let us know if you have any questions, we would be stoked to help you out on your build! Thanks, Rick

Q: What size hoses and fittings are needed? OilLineQuestions3 years ago
Various responses note that you will need two additional oil lines for this item. The responses say you need two braided hoses that will stand up to the required temperature, pressure, and fluid (oil) that are two feet in length each with female AN fittings. But, what diameter should the hoses be? And what size fittings are needed? Please let me know. Thank you.
-
-
1 of
1 people found the
following answer helpful
A: You will need -10AN hoses and fittings for both the radiator and sandwich plate, and we would recommend mocking up the radiator to get final lengths for the hoses for best fitment.

Q: Oil lines FourDoorFun4 years ago
Do you sell an oil line kit that can be used to install this radiator/ oil cooler combo?
-
-

0 people found the
following answer helpful
A: Unfortunately, we do not carry a line kit for this, they do have to be ordered from a specialty company or homemade. Basically, you'll need 2 high-temp braided hoses with female AN fittings on both ends. Each should be roughly 2 feet.
