Gates Radiator Hose Lower ( Part Number: 22885)

Too short for 2.5i 3 months ago
    5out of 5stars

Star rating based on quality of product, not fitment issue. LOWER hose (GAT22885) is too short for Impreza '07 2.5i, re-used original hose. Rallysport direct website says it was incompatible but I called and representative on phone said it would work. Listen to the website. Website says UPPER radiator hose (GAT22886) fits 05-07 also. This is correct & I just used it and fitted new CSF3356 radiator to my '07 2.5i Impreza no issues.

Lower gates radiator hose  5 months ago

It didn't seem like this hose is for a factory replacement with factory radiator. Its about 2inches shorter than the oem hose i took off. It might work better with an aftermarket thicker radiator. I returned this hose

    Works great 4 years ago

For the lower radiator hose you may need a bit of trimming. Reason I did mine was that it wanted to kink or bend at a radius I wasn't really comfortable with. But once I trimmed it a hair, and then started the car, the pump and heat took care of the kink. Just remember it may look a little more severe because there is no pressure or fluid in the system. Well worth replacing. Do worm screw clamps as well to ensure a snug fit. Just remember you're clamping down on aluminum, so use your best judgement on tight but not so tight you crack something.

Slight trimming may be needed 4 years ago

I'd say I took off maybe 3/4" in total (some from one side some from the other). When I placed on the bottom the length made the hose kink a bit more than I was comfortable with. Some trimming and letting the car put pressure in the hose after all was said and done. It looks regular and is operating just fine.

Not a perfect fit 5 years ago
    4out of 5stars

Currently installing this hose with a mishimoto radiator. Doesn't appear to be a direct drop in. I've attempted to twist it around to get an optimal fit but doesn't seem that's going to work. Going to pull this out and trim it like a few other folks have mentioned.

    QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

    • Q: High Pressure Radiator Caps  Farting Hello Kitty 4 years ago

Is it okay to run this hose with high pressure radiator caps? I'd like to pair it with a Mishimoto radiator and Koyorad high pressure caps.
      • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Gates designs these radiator hoses to run with the OEM coolant pressure. I would not recommend running this hose with the high pressure cap.
