I bought this cap to replace a mishimoto cap that was torn-open by coolant pressure and heat. I normally drive in semi heavy traffic with ambient temps in the 90s most of the year. The construction seems sturdier than the mishimoto it replaces and the higher than stock pressure rating is needed for my application (300whp wrx) and ambient temps. Just make sure to install it in the recirculation tank near the turbo (never on the radiator itself) The oem radiator cap will still be of a slightly higher pressure rating (20psi) vs this cap's 18.5psi (1.3bar) as the system is designed for the recirculation tank to open first when pressure rises over.

Installed on my '95 Nissan 300ZX. The Prova 1.3 bar cap is a very handsome cap. The price is right, too. It's hard to find a better deal on a high quality cap with silicon seals. Natural rubber seals on cheaper caps are worthless. Rubber seals quickly harden and stop working. Where rubber seals fail silicon will keep a tight seal helping your cooling system work they way it should.

    QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

    • Q: OEM Radiator  ScubaDriver3604 years ago

I understand the aesthetic value enhancement, but are there any adverse effects having increased pressure resistance with a factory radiator (seems like a debatable subject on forums)? Planning to replace both on my '13 Hatch and wanted to verify it was worthwhile (from your more knowledgeable viewpoints) prior to acquisition.
      • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  There should be no negative effects from upgrading to 1.3 bar radiator caps with the stock radiator as long as it is in good condition. Increased pressure could cause a minor leak to get worse.

    • Q: 2009 Subaru WRX  TQuon6 years ago

On some Subaru models, theres a 2 radiator caps. Should I replace both with this Prova High Pressure one or just replace one?
      • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  That is a very debatable subject and everybody has a different opinion with valid reasons for both arguments. I personally would replace both caps with the same pressure cap.
