Mishimoto 1.3 Bar Radiator Cap Small

  • Q: Subaru Impreza STI 2006  .5 months ago

I have a Mishimoto aluminium radiator in my 2006 STI. Does this cap go on the Mishimoto radiator or the expansion tank? It this cap a two-way or a single valve? There are 2 questions regarding this under this product but both have contradicting answers. Can I use it on Mishimoto radiator?

A:  This cap CANNOT be used on the OEM or Aftermarket replacement radiators this cap is only designed for the expansion tank. This cap is a single valve.

Can this cap be safely used on the Mishimoto radiator? This is really confusing to me.

A:  If the radiator is the correct size for the cap it should work.

A:  The staff answer to this question needs to be removed or edited, as it is contradictory to all other answers, and also appears to be incorrect. Both Mishimoto and RallySport Direct have stated in multiple locations that this cap cannot go on any radiator, OEM or aftermarket, and should only go on the expansion tank. Perhaps more clarification is needed, since this is a universal product.

  • Q: Using this cap on the radiator  gator.hudson456933 years ago

On the Mishimoto website it says on their X-Line Radiator page: "CAUTION The provided Mishimoto radiator cap should replace the stock cap located on the expansion tank. The stock cap attached to the radiator should be installed on the Mishimoto Performance Aluminum Radiator. The Mishimoto radiator cap is a two way valve, while the stock radiator cap is a single valve. Due to the difference in construction, the Mishimoto cap cannot be used on the radiator. If the Mishimoto cap is fit on the radiator, overheating may occur." Is this the same cap that Mishimoto provides with their radiator that really goes on the expansion tank, or one that works on a stock radiator? It looks the same.

A:  You cannot use a Mishimoto cap on the radiator weather it be a Mishimoto or OEM the OEM cap has a different design then Mishimoto's. The mishimoto cap provided with the radiator is to be used on the expansion tank.
