Process West Front Mounted Intercooler Kit Black
Subaru WRX 2015+
Features & Product Details
RallySport Direct carries some of the best performance intercooler kits brought to you by Process West. Process West designs and manufactures their intercooler to be durable while being effective when producing better performance and intercooler efficiency.
Here, you are looking at the Process West Front Mount Intercooler Kit. If you have performed modifications that increase the horsepower or the boost, then your factory top mount intercooler risks getting heat soaked which will limit the potential of the rest of your modifications. The front mount intercooler core provides a larger area surface coverage to properly cool the intake charge temperatures routing to the intake and turbocharger.

I bought this for my 2015 WRX Premium because I was going with a bigger turbo and needed an intercooler that would keep up. This thing is HUGE - to the point I was concerned it would take too much away from my radiator. A non-issue as my coolant temps are just fine so no worries after all. Either there was one page missing from the instructions or it just wasn't detailed enough - a picture with statement of something like 'Mount pipes as shown in the picture' usually works, but when that picture doesn't show where the pipes actually mount to the intake (too far away and wrong angle) it caused about 5 mins of frustration when the pipe would line up. In short - remove the stock pipe to the intercooler AND the hard plastic mount pipe that connects to the intake. The smaller of the 3 silicone hoses mounts directly to the intake and replaces that plastic piece. If you try to mount the AL pipe to the stock plastic mount the angle is all wrong. Not a huge deal, just not covered by the pics. As for cutting - I had to trim some of the plastic splash guard on the passenger’s side (in addition to the 3" hole they tell you to cut in the instructions) - I used a box cutter and it took maybe 5 minutes). A little more involved: For the cooling side on my 2015, there is a support bracket mounted to the frame that is not in the picture on the car in the instructions. And it’s only on the driver’s side for some reason, but its bolts to the outside of the frame and goes to the bumper support. When on there, the out pipe from the intercooler cannot be routed into the engine bay. So I removed it. But there was a small mounting bracket (where this piece mounts to the bumper support) that remained that needed to be trimmed as well. I made quick work of it with a dremel and trimmed only enough to make room for the pipe but also re-install that bumper support piece if for some strange reason I went back to stock. Apologies the pictures aren't great - I wasn't thinking about feedback at the time, just excited about getting the install complete. The top down picture shows that angled support completely blocking the routing for the cold side pipes. The picture of the intercooler shows sheer size of it in front of the radiator but if you can zoom in on where the cold side pipe exits the intercooler you can see the mounting tab behind it - you can't see my handy work because it’s behind the pipe, but I trimmed enough of the top of this so the pipe could make its turn. Honestly - this is small stuff but don't get caught off guard and without cutting tools if you have a 2015. Not sure if it’s only the 2015, or only the premium, or only the charcoal gray, or only ones delivered to CO, or whatever the rationale but it would be prudent to take 2 minutes and look at your set up so you're ready if you do need to trim like I did. I will only knock 1 star off ease of install not because it was hard but only because it was unexpected to have to do any metal removal, but won't knock anything off my overall rating. Overall, I love it and have added a massive amount of power (just over 400 WHP - capable of much more but I wanted to stay on the top end of safe for the stock block). That said, I quickly exposed my clutch with 42k miles on it as a weak point. Doing a 3rd or 4th gear pull and the clutch slips so a performance clutch is next (I'd recommend building it into your budget if you're considering this intercooler because you're adding significantly more power).

I installed this on my 17' WRX recently and it fits like a glove. No cutting is required, I get to keep my foglights, the quality is amazing. Just be careful when installing the windshield washer reservoir spacers, they are easy to strip! There is also a piece on the drivers side that you will need to remove that is not in the instructions to get the pipe to fit properly. It is right next to the bumper beam and is just a few bolts.
