The PERRIN Performance Crank Pulley weighs just 1.2 lbs, which is 3.7 pounds lighter than the stock OEM crank pulley. This reduction in weight from the crank shaft is equal to removing more than 100 lbs of vehicle weight! Throttle response, horsepower and torque are all increased with this easy to install part.

Designed to look mean and fast, the PERRIN Performance crank pulley has precision machined grooves which tightly sync with all OEM and aftermarket belts.

The PERRIN crank pulley is machined from 6061T6 billet aluminum, anodized red or black and laser etched for increased belt life and a precision fit. Precision machined grooves tightly sync with all OEM and aftermarket belts.

This was a gift, and the first mod on my BRZ. Does it make a difference? Yes. Does it make a difference that really matters for 128 bucks...No. I think 85% of the difference most people have reported is the placebo effect of their really cool looking anodized aluminum lightweight crank pulley. I base this claim mostly off of accelerometer data that I have collected (FYI, the data came from a MoTeC, not an Iphone).Still, after almost 9 months it was going strong. This is supposed to lower the rotational inertia of the engine, allowing you to rev faster going through the gears, as well as rev match quicker on a downshift. It can even help speed up shifting by making the revs drop faster in between upshifts so the syncros work less and you slide into gear faster. Still, I would call the performance upgrade from this minimal at best. I had a much bigger improvement in reduced rotational inertia from a clutch and lightweight flywheel, but to be fair, a clutch and flywheel costs 5x more and takes all day to install by yourself with some good tools....this pulley takes literally 5 minutes from hood open to hood closed and it doesn't even need to be in the air....and it looks cool. The only thing that really concerns me about this product is that the engine is a bit more noisy now. This is likely because this pulley does almost nothing to dampen your engine (solid aluminum and basically no weight). Over a long time this might become an issue, and I don't see it getting better for higher power setups. There is a reason stock engines have heavier pulleys with elastomer bushings. It's because its not just a pulley, it's a harmonic balancer...that thing that reduces the torsional vibration in your crank shaft... I like that thing, especially on a high reving engine. So if you want my opinion, be nice to your engine and remove rotational inertia elsewhere. This doesn't help performance much anyways. However, if you are hell bent on being better than stock inertia, but want to be nice to your engine too, there is an option. Fluidamper makes a replacement that has less rotational inertia than stock, and manages to dampen vibration better than stock at the same time. This is due to an internal inertia ring surrounded by viscous silicone. These things work great, but be ready for sticker shock...$$$$
