  • Q: grimm speed pulley   daveymcfarland122113 years ago

do you think it will effect anything negatively if i installed this on my 02 impreza 2.5ts that also already has a 12lb flywheel? i have one off of my other car and i want to install it if i will just get better response but i dont want to hurt anything cause i just did all new gaskets and timing to this engine two days ago and put in a stage 3 clutc with light weight flywheel
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  Installing both a lightweight pulley and flywheel will not hurt the vehicle, but sometimes a check engine light can come up from the crank being too light and the crank sensor not being able to read. Typically we recommend sticking with either a lightweight flywheel or pulley, but not both.

  • Q: crank pulley bolt   hella flush is hella stupid4 years ago

I see you guys just put the crank bolt in and torqued it on the install vid. The service manual says to put oil on the cap and the threads of the bolt, then torque it down. It mentions two stages of torque and a tolerance of 45 degrees for the bolt. Why is this procedure so complicated in the fsm, and is it necessary to follow these steps with the lightweight pulley?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  We recommend following Grimmspeed's instruction manual which is found below. They do not mention two stages of torquing or oiling the cap. http://www.grimmspeed.com/content/install_guides/SubaruCrankPulley.pdf

  • Q: Harmonics?  MrFreeze4 years ago

How do these pulleys effect the harmonics of the motor?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The stock crank pulley is not a harmonic balancer and lightweight Subaru crank pulleys do not have any negative effects on engine harmonics.

  • Q: Belt install  nwWRXdriver4 years ago

I ordeded one of these from the grimmspeed website, I was wondering if I should buy a new Gates belt as well? my 2012 WRX has 32k miles on it.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It is strongly recommended to replace the accessory belts due to the low cost and having to remove them while installing this pulley anyway.

  • Q: Tune?  snowbound895 years ago

Now I read that after installation that there is no tune required, however would it help at all to get a tune after installation?
  • Q: Pulley Installation question  gborja8886 years ago

While awaiting for the arrival of my order of the stretch belt. I have some question regarding pulley installation: 1. Do we really need to disconnect the battery to install this? My car has a OEM NAV, I'm worried it will be necessary to input some code to activate before I could use the NAV again. 2. The installation talks about putting the car in neutral gear for manual transmission? how about for auto transmission? Is it neutral or parked? TIA. I really looking forward to install this pulley together with the alternator pulley.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  No need to disconnect the battery at all, as this pulley does not deal with electronics. As for the transmission, you would put it into P. However you will want to get the GrimmSpeed pulley tool 095011 to aid in install.

A:  Hello, Yes we have to recommend disconnecting the battery any time you are working with your engine. The car should remain in neutral just as it would in a manual if you're using our pulley tool. Mike

  • Q: Belts  imaminivan7 years ago

I wouldn't have to replace my belts when installing this, would I?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You do not have to replace the belt if it is not needed. If you are close to being due for a new belt it would be a good idea to replace it at the same time while you are in there ;)
