This is the PERRIN Performance Shifter Stop which has been designed to help eliminate some of the inherent shifter slop in your vehicle. Especially the horizontal slop between 1st and 2nd gear shift gates which have an average of 1" of shift play. With the PERRIN Shifter Stop, it will reduce the horizontal movement by up to 0.12" to make a solid connection between the driver and the transmission. This shifter stop will bolt directly to the transmission, and it is crafted from 6061-T6 aluminum materials which allows for countless downshifts from 3rd to 2nd gear. Additionally, PERRIN supplies hardware that will remove the existing gap in the shifter assembly which will further reduce the lateral shifter assembly movement.

I’ve seen the reviews and really didn’t think this would make much of a difference. Boy was I wrong. After driving with the stock shifter for 8k miles I never noticed how sloppy the shifter was in 1st and 2nd. For fairly cheap and only taking maybe 10 minutes of your time this makes a world of difference.
Easy install on my 2019 WRX base. World of difference by itself!! Pair it with the brass shift bushing and short shift plate, and it's like driving a brand new car. Took my less than 10 minutes to install.
Honestly this should be a day one part for your WRX. I didn’t think it would make that much of a difference, but it really makes the car a much better daily driver and gives you much more confidence in your 1st to 2nd shifts. The 7mm nuts you need to mess with are a HUGE pain but that’s not Perrin’s fault. Crazy fast shipping from RSD as well, I ordered this along with the brass shifter bushing and got it in 2 days....and the shipping was free :) Not to mention these guys have the best price I’ve seen.
I originally had bought the other perrin shifter stop '15-'18, but that one doesn't work so well on the 18. With this one it works perfectly, and combined with the shifter bushing for butter smooth shifts.
First thing I did when I got my 2018 WRX home. Cleans up the side-to-side slop perfectly and totally customizable to your liking. Install was about 20 minutes, hardest part is the tiny 7mm nuts, don't drop those bad boys. Sticker added 5 HP easy. Can't beat it for the $$
