Features & Product Details
RallySport Direct proudly carries a great selection of quality aftermarket products brought to you by PERRIN Performance.
This is the PERRIN Performance Rear Shifter Bushing. This bushing features durable urethane construction that is a direct replacement for the factory shifter bushing that will become soft over time and mileage. The result is a tighter and uniform shifter feel with reduced excessive movement associated with a worn-out bushing.

My shifter is feeling great after installing this bushing. If you're looking to remove play in the shifter, this doesn't really do much for that. It does however give a very satisfying feeling when going into gears, almost like a gated shifter. The gears are much easier to find and more pronounced. Another cool little thing is that this one part seems to fit every Subaru with a manual transmission (or at least most). I put the same in in a BRZ, 4th gen Legacy and 2nd gen legacy.
The Perrin Performance Sti rear shifter bushing kit is bs, buy the Cobb or KB one. It doesn't line up with the stock mounting holes at all. They also really skimped on the replacement hardware in the kits that replace the stock bolts. They are not metric, but now I have to go track down a 1/2 socket instead of a 12mm?! Seriously?! Perrin I expected better from you. All in all it took FAR longer than a half hour just trying to line up the bushing in the mounting holes without damaging the threads. I will never do another one on a customers car, or recommend it. HORRIBLE PRODUCT THAT SHOULD BE REDESIGNED.
Trade slop for crisp shifting and NVH. I had my tuner install so not sure how much of a pain it was.
In all, I had the following installed to replace the stock items: STI Transmission Mount Subaru 5MT Models Perrin Rear Shifter Bushing Subaru Models Perrin Shifter Bushings Subaru 5MT Turn In Concepts (TIC) 5MT Lever Pivot Bushings TiC Subaru Shift Linkage Bushings Marked increase in shifter feel and marginal increase in nvh but it actually sounds good to me - sporty. My wife hasn't even noticed it... I chose to go with the Perrin shifter bushings as theirs is 88a Durometer whereas Kartboy's is 95A Durometer which means Perrin's is a little softer... excellent upgrade and tremendous bang for the buck
This is a vast improvement over the Subaru stock rear bushing. I can't believe they would put together a car as great as the WRX and use shifter bushings that feel like they are from a '89 Escort. Best first mod I could have done! I'll blame Subaru for the crazy bolt angles that make this a frustrating install, Perrin is not to blame for that. And let's not forget the great service and pricing from RallySportDirect.

Q: Transmission whine geemee30131438 years ago
I just installed both Perrin front and rear bushing on my 2014 STI, but I'm getting loud whining sound in the cabin, is this normal? I have a friend who has WRX has only installed the front Perrin bushing and told me he did not find any whine sound, I'm curious if the whine sound is cause by the rear bushing? Thanks

A: A small amount of increased drivetrain noise is common with any bushing upgrade, but there should not be a very noticeable whine. We recommend checking the reverse lockout cable and if that is secured away from the transmission, then please contact us for further support.
