Took my title from RallySportDirect's product description because this OEM replacement fit the bill for a leaking original 2002 WRX radiator (bond between top tank and core was spraying coolant when warmed up). This is a nice replacement for a stock or lightly modded WRX and is lighter than the thicker cored all aluminum Mishimoto performance radiator. On my '02 car ordered in August of 2001 from a U.S. dealership, the factory radiator cap fits on the new radiator and causes no overheating issues. Removed old radiator and swapped OEM fans and coolant overflow bottle onto new Mishimoto radiator. Installed new Mishimoto silicone hose kit at the same time. Perfect fitment. Added fresh coolant, burped the system, idled car long enough for thermostat to open and fans to kick in, and I was on my way. This radiator and new hose kit can be installed in the WRX without jacking up the car although if you have a bigger head than me you might need to get the vehicle up on jackstands. Pay careful attention to the two small diameter rubber hoses that come from the coolant fill tank over the engine. If the hoses are old they may split or not seal tightly when attaching to the new radiator, even with factory clamps. One of these old hoses leaked a little bit so I've ordered a new set of pre-formed hoses from Subaru.

I was hesitant to get this after all the negative Mishimoto stuff not the forums. But this is a great replacement radiator. I have over 5K miles on it now and no issues. FYI the auto and manuals are the same part number. For the manuals you will need to get some vacuum caps to cap the transmission cooler lines; No Plugs provided.

This radiator is a perfect replacement for an OEM swap. Make sure you have a couple smaller hose clamps for the two little hoses on the top end; the hoses will slip off without them. Other than that this is another great product built by Mishimoto and sold by RSD. Blew the top seam of the OEM radiator driving to work on a Wednesday (had been expecting that for a while), ordered this online that morning at work with 2-day shipping, received it on Friday, installed that weekend under 2.5 hours. A big thank you to the people behind the curtain at RSD for their quick response and friendly demeanor.

Q: Mishimoto OEM radiator MOMOTORSPORTS3 years ago
Hi, does the radiator come with a cap? and does it matter what rating the plastic radiator uses compared to an all aluminum radiator?

A: No this will not come with a radiator cap, also yes it will matter. Obviously, you won't want to put this in a vehicle pushing 500+ HP.
