Features & Product Details

Cusco is one of the pioneering companies based out of Japan that has invested countless hours of research, design, and engineering to develop quality suspension and performance products that will improve your driving experience. Some of the fasted cars around the world who compete in time attack, time trials, and other racing avenues will more than likely have a Cusco product on their car.

This is the Cusco Brake Cylinder Stopper. This particular component has been designed to reinforce the mounting points of the brake master cylinder and to repair the inherent flex between the brake master cylinder, and the firewall. This is a common issue for those of you who auto-x or participate in weekend track days where extreme braking will occur.

Installation can be performed with basic tools as the holes on this brake cylinder stopper match the existing provisions on the firewall. Hardware will be included, and it will come powder-coated in Cusco's flagship blue color for extra resistance to rust and corrosion.

Stiffens brake feel 6 months ago
pr0file
Bought this cause of the issues, in some cars, that arose through heavy braking. It improves the feeling of the brake and it feels more solid when depressing the brake pedal.

A welcomed addition, but not a must have part.  11 months ago

Build quality is outstanding and sturdy. Install was straight forward but a bit meticulous on my WRX as a couple of the bolts were tough to reach with my big hands and arms. Slow turns on a 10mm closed box wrench were required which took some time. Install instructions are all in Japanese, so watching YouTube videos is recommended. This ended up firming up the pedal at the bottom of its travel. There is still a small length at the top of the pedal's travel that still resides, but I can definitely tell this part is working as intended. Snugging down the bolt against the master cylinder only required about 1/2-3/4 turn after the initial contact. I didn't want to wrench it down too much, as the cylinder is only aluminum.

2016 Hyper Blue STI 2 years ago
HyperBlueSTI
Ordered this piece from RSD and installed it in under 30mins or so. STI has fuel lines I believe along the driver side where the master cylinder brace is. Made it a pain to maneuver my hands around, but there were absolutely no fitment issues on the 2016 Limited Series Hyper Blue STI. Cusco paints this piece in their signature blue color and it definitely catches your eye in the engine bay. Drove around some after the install and it helps a tad bit. I think combined with stainless brake lines the brakes on the STI would probably be a decent setup. I do recommend this product and RallySport Direct is there to help every step of the way.

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek is COMPATIBLE with this part, SIGNIFICANT BRAKE PEDAL IMPROVEMENT 3 years ago
AWDfreak
Installation was not too difficult. The immediate improvement was as dramatic as installing stainless steel braided brake hose. It's a night and day difference that helps reduce the firewall (now called a bulkhead) flex that's common amongst newer Subaru models, not just the WRX and WRX STI. I would highly recommend this to those who wish for their brake pedal to be stiffer. This mod will probably apply to GJ-chassis and GP-chassis Imprezas as well as GP-chassis XV Crosstreks and of course the confirmed fitment of the VA-chassis WRX and WRX STI models.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Q: Track Day Use  RoMo121 year ago

Hello, I have been debating this piece if this is something that can help my brake pedal feel out on track days. What I noticed with mine is that pedals gets mushy (heat related I guess) and this certainly makes the driving a bit a hairy especially on a tight corner coming into the Cork Screw of Laguna Seca. How will this help my brake pedal? Many feedback I've seen are from street driving. Looking for someone who may have track experience with this on and saw any improvement, if any. Current brake setup: 15 STI DBA Rotors DTC60 pads Steel brake lines Motul RBF 600 Thanks!

A:  This will remove any flex that the brake cylinder has. That will give you a better brake response and should remove some of that mushy feeling.

A:  I have personally purchased this part from RallySportDirect and installed this part on my GP-chassis Subaru XV Crosstrek with the FB20 engine and 5-speed manual (single range). It fits with no significant issues. It should also fit any GJ-chassis and GP-chassis Impreza models as well. To verify your chassis code, check the 4th and 5th digits of your vehicle's VIN. If it shows "GP" on your XV, it will fit.
