Description

Cusco is one of the pioneering companies based out of Japan that has invested countless hours of research, design, and engineering to develop quality suspension and performance products that will improve your driving experience. Some of the fasted cars around the world who compete in time attack, time trials, and other racing avenues will more than likely have a Cusco product on their car.

This is the Cusco Brake Cylinder Stopper. This particular component has been designed to reinforce the mounting points of the brake master cylinder and to repair the inherent flex between the brake master cylinder, and the firewall. This is a common issue for those of you who auto-x or participate in weekend track days where extreme braking will occur.

Installation can be performed with basic tools as the holes on this brake cylinder stopper match the existing provisions on the firewall. Hardware will be included, and it will come powder-coated in Cusco's flagship blue color for extra resistance to rust and corrosion.

Installed was easy enough in theory. My big hands got in the way along with not wanting to do extra work removing pieces around it. Eventually I got it in. Another high quality Cusco part. Brake pedal response feels better but without any scientific testing, I can't tell you if it actually made a huge difference or not. If nothing else its some nice Cusco blue to add down in the depths of the hood.

Installed on my 02 wrx wagon, greatly increased pedal feel and stiffness. At 160k miles my brake pedal felt soft and had to push almost half way in just to start rubbing the brakes. With this the pedal is almost instantly applying brakes. Probably the best improvement item i have installed. Recommend to anyone looking to get better feel from their brake pedal. Excellent product.

Not sure I notice much of a braking difference. Looks cool in the engine bay nonetheless. Pain to install.

Easy Brake feel upgrade

Took the wiper fluid tank out of my 05 wrx and it was easy. Just took a while to tighten one of the bolts because of space. It does exactly what it's designed for, decreasing sponginess due to MS movement. Very satisfied. Highly recommended. Perfect fitment.

    Answer

    Will this fit onto a 2001 2.5RS?

    • A: Cusco only confirms fitment with this part for 2002-2007 models and I don't believe it will mount properly on your 2001 model.

  • Q: Will Cusco Brake Cylinder Stopper Subaru Impreza (inc. WRX / STI) fit a Legacy GT?  05LGT 7 years ago

    Answer

Will this master cylinder brace fit on a 2005 Legacy GT? According to this write up on the LGT forum, it will: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/cusco-master-cylinder-bracket-installed-80021.html The photos shown in this thread are clearly from an LGT. I've confirmed the position of the vacuum hoses and fuel lines. There's enough play in them to remove their brackets and install the Cusco brace. The holes on the cylinder brace look like they'll line up exactly with existing holes in the strut tower. Do you have any information to back up the claim made on the LGT forum? Thanks!

    • A: Short answer, no. Cusco lists the fitment as the GD Impreza and not the LGT. The poster in said thread that actually installed it even said he thinks it was for a JDM car (see post 9). So this would be an at your own risk type of deal. If you get the brace and before opening it you decide it will not work, we can take it back. But once it is opened, we can not accept a return on it. You can view our return policy here at http://www.rallysportdirect.com/policies_returns.cfm . Thank you.
