QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Q: overboost  diflouresb576104 years ago

i have a 2003 wrx that makes 17lbs of boost. My stock boost solenoid has seen better days and it causing my boost to overboost and fluctuate. would it be safe to run one of these instead as long as i dont exceed 17lbs im tuned for. thanks

A:  You will want to be sure that the car is running properly. It is best to just run an EBCS and get a custom tune on that.

A:  As Kyle has suggested, tuning the boost pressure is usually best done through the ECU so that the factory's safeguards remain in place. However, if you are looking for a cheap fix to avoid a re-tune and new factory solenoid, and you understand the risks and make adjustments carefully, the Atomic will definitely do the job. The factory turbo will naturally start dropping boost above about 5000RPM which the Atomic cannot correct, but once set up it will hit your target boost reliably.
