  • Q: Gear 300 vs 90PA  Dario j4 months ago

I have a 2002 wrx wagon and i see that the gear 300 fluid is reccomended for the rear diff but others reccomend using the 90PA for rear diff on a 5speed WRX. What oil should i use for trans and rear diff?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  We do not recommend 90PA for the WRX as it has open differentials and not mechanical limited slip differentials like the 04-06 STi. For the WRX we recommend Motul Gear300 for the transmission and rear differential. You will need 5qts total to complete the fluid change.

  • Q: LSD Differentials  jaymie981 year ago

RSD, I have 2007 Subaru Forester XT with a JDM Forester STI 6 speed which has 2 Suretrac LSD,s (front & rear). I purchased the Motul 90pa for both diff & gearbox but the gearbox seems to have a slight wine & vibration over 70mph, any recommedations?
    • 1 of 1 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It could be that the oil that you put in your transmission has a high viscosity which might give you a slight whine. However it could also be your clutch parts. I would start by diagnosing any clutch issues and if the clutch is all good go with a different trans oil.

  • Q: 2009 sti   dubaru3 years ago

Will there be any gains or positives to using this over the standard motul 300 in my rear diff? If not then Ill just purchase the motul 300. Secondly, what should I use for my front diff? I see everyone talking about tranny and rear diff but not front diff.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This fluid is for clutch-pack or plate type differentials. In 07+ STi's that use a torsen you can simply use the standard Motul 300. The 90PA can be used, but its not needed as your Torsen LSD does not require a special fluid like a clutch type unit that the 04-06 STi have. This is not recommended for the Transmission(which houses the front and center diff) on the STi due to the friction modifier that is added, The Motul Gear 300 is a better option for the 6MT Transmission.

  • Q: JDM 04 Sti  Ejzok4 years ago

What's the different between PA90 and 300 (both non-LS and LS)??? Im so confus I run trackday twice a month, so please recommend which one should I be using for Gear and Rear Diff, thanks!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  The PA90 is more useful for clutch type unit that comes in this 04-06 models where as the 300 is a more generic gear oil. You could use either without any issues.

  • Q: Correct Diff Fluid for 2002-2007 WRX's   2004REX4 years ago

RSD, I have read this fluid is not really the best for 2007+ STI's as they have Torsen diff's and the same for 2008+ WRX's. My 2004 Subi WRX wagon has an LSD in the rear. Is this what I should purchase for a rear fluid swap?? Thanks in advance!
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This fluid is for clutch-pack or plate type differentials and is not recommended for stock WRX differentials. We recommend the Motul 300 for your rear diff.

  • Q: For Cusco LSD?  ayanamieve911296 years ago

I have a Cusco 1.5 way LSD in my r160. Would this oil work for it?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  It is typically recommended to run the LSD's manufacture fluid. As some LSD's require specific additives to work properly.

  • Q: For BRZ?  Taekyu6 years ago

Would this be a good fluid for the rear diff in a 2013 BRZ?
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  According to the 2013 BRZ owners manual, it requires 1.20 Quarts of API GL-5 and SAE 75W-85 or GL-5 and SAE 75W-90 Gear Oil. This should work great! Thanks!

  • Q: 06 sti  GlazierR1153837 years ago

how many would i need for the rear diff for an 06 STI
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  You will only need one of these containers. The rear differential on your STi takes just under 1QT or so and this Motul container is 2.1QT's so you should have enough to service the rear differential a second time down the road.

  • Q: 2011 Subaru WRX  hockeyfan197 years ago

Would this be a good fluid for the rear diff in a 2011 WRX? Thanks.
    • 0 of 0 people found the following answer helpful

A:  This fluid is more ideal for the STi rear differential, do to the LSD being in place. As the 2008+ WRX has no rear LSD this would not be the proper fluid for the vehicle.
