I have a custom rear diff and I have been searching for the right oil. It is loud.. grouchy.. and clunky with the wrong oil. Added this oil.. and poof.. whisper quiet and smooth engagements. So glade i bit the bullet and picked this up.
I was recommended this oil for my 2004 WRX 5mt rear diff. Turns out it's for LSD clutch style STI differentials. NOT WRX!! So here I am running to find rear diff oil, while I'm halfway through a fluid swap. I informed the representative of the vehicles year, make, model, and transmission. And now I'm stuck with something I can't use, and a dry diff.
First off thanks to RSD for always having the dopest products! This stuff simply a must have if you have an 06' STI. Little of a pain to get it in the diff without making a mess but Motul fluids all the way!
Did a change about 3k ago. Did not have any grinds or weird noises before. Still going well after about 3,000 miles. Easy to do with a cheap hand pump from the parts store.
Had a bit of diff chatter. Replaced fluid that was in there from previous owner with a quart of Motul 90PA and it's way better. Good stuff, and one of the few approved for the '04 STi rear diff.

Will this be okay in a 2007 subaru sti stock differential? Winter is around the corner and it gets -20 degrees F sometimes.

Q: Gear 300 vs 90PA Dario j8 months ago
I have a 2002 wrx wagon and i see that the gear 300 fluid is reccomended for the rear diff but others reccomend using the 90PA for rear diff on a 5speed WRX. What oil should i use for trans and rear diff?

A: We do not recommend 90PA for the WRX as it has open differentials and not mechanical limited slip differentials like the 04-06 STi. For the WRX we recommend Motul Gear300 for the transmission and rear differential. You will need 5qts total to complete the fluid change.

Q: LSD Differentials jaymie982 years ago
RSD, I have 2007 Subaru Forester XT with a JDM Forester STI 6 speed which has 2 Suretrac LSD,s (front & rear). I purchased the Motul 90pa for both diff & gearbox but the gearbox seems to have a slight wine & vibration over 70mph, any recommedations?

A: It could be that the oil that you put in your transmission has a high viscosity which might give you a slight whine. However it could also be your clutch parts. I would start by diagnosing any clutch issues and if the clutch is all good go with a different trans oil.

Q: 2009 sti dubaru4 years ago
Will there be any gains or positives to using this over the standard motul 300 in my rear diff? If not then Ill just purchase the motul 300. Secondly, what should I use for my front diff? I see everyone talking about tranny and rear diff but not front diff.

A: This fluid is for clutch-pack or plate type differentials. In 07+ STi's that use a torsen you can simply use the standard Motul 300. The 90PA can be used, but its not needed as your Torsen LSD does not require a special fluid like a clutch type unit that the 04-06 STi have. This is not recommended for the Transmission(which houses the front and center diff) on the STi due to the friction modifier that is added, The Motul Gear 300 is a better option for the 6MT Transmission.
